IMDB: 6.3
Rotten Tomatoes: 26%
Starring: Simon Baker, Winona Ryder
Director: Daniel Walters

Sex and Death 101 is a somewhat dark comedy about a guy who receives a list of everyone who he's ever had sex with...and who he will have sex with, which proceeds to turn his life upside down. Meanwhile Ryder plays a femme fatale who parades around town putting men who mistreat women into comas.

This wasn't as bad as the RT score makes it out to be, it definitely had it's moments and was genuinely funny at times, and the editing was surprisingly good. Baker does a great job as the main character and delivers a solid performance, and his narration suits the film perfectly. However I wish I could say the same of Ryder - while I usually tend to like her I found her completely dry and unconvincing in this film, which is a shame because her character could have had a lot more depth than was let on. I also didn't really care for the ending, I personally think a far darker/grim ending would have suited the film much better as opposed to the complete 180 into the "happily ever after" bullshit stereotypical hollywood ending. Wouldn't be surprised if that wasn't how the script originally ended. Oh and Patton Oswalt does a good job adding a bit of levity and random humor into the film as well.

3/5
