Since your library at work is only 5GB and you have an ipod, why not just keep it all on there? That way when you sync it at home it'll update your ratings etc.

All I can think of is to make the playlist not include any compilations, though that will also exclude songs you only have on compilations.

There's an app I've found recently called Sonora. It's no where near complete enough to replace iTunes entirely but for simply listening to music, it's perfect! It's really fast and responsive and it imports your iTunes library very fast. http://getsonora.com/
