I am not a huge fan of two-tone with the wood grips, and a Nitron-slide owner might be tempted to upgrade to the metallic. It's purely a looks thing. GroovinPickle posted:If you are talking about the same caliber and the same generation of gun I believe they will be the same. Since it's a P239 which is known for having a loose slide-to-frame fit (not all, but many if not most) you may end up with a slightly different fitment on your frame. Seems to me that you'd be better off swapping guns with somebody unless you've got some fancy-pants trigger work. Welp, a straight up trade won't work (entire gun) as they no longer make the DAK/SAS. It's now either-or. Also back then, you could only get it with the metallic-finish slide. To add to the decision, the previous owner had Sig do their trigger smoothing package on it. Lastly, swapping entire pistols would involve transfers via FFL on both ends. While trading slides would be FFL-free. I originally thought to send it to have the Cerehide done. I heard that it might improve fit of slide to frame. A straight slide trade would set me back shipping only. Fog Tripper fucked around with this message at May 27, 2009 around 15:31 |

So I tried looking for policies that cover incedental damages from discharging a weapon, and ran into this: http://www.ilga.gov/legislation/Bil...10&SessionID=76 Apparently there has to be some kind of insurance available, or every single IL gun owner becomes a criminal next January. Still looking into it. Good luck, IL. Edit: Terrible website with really annoying spoken introduction: http://www.xinsurance.com/?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=Firearm&utm_term=firearm%20insurance Rolling over the bottom right graphic shows firearms as one of the optional insurance policies they offer. Thread over at random message board about Mass's introduction of a similar bill two years ago: http://www.northeastshooters.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=19892 Most notable is the reply: http://www.northeastshooters.com/vbulletin/showpost.php?s=fac759f5187d64e8701a9dfb13f6ced7&p=254881&postcount=5 which also claims as I did, no one offers that kind of insurance. It's possible it may be available now, but I would expect the policies to be cost prohibitive at best and useless if you are actually sued at worst. I suppose it depends on what "specifically covering any damages resulting from negligent or willful acts involving the use of such firearm" means. I'm sure the comment is right that you can't insure yourself against a tort you deliberately set out to commit, but surely the law doesn't intend to require that. Any action you do that accidentally causes you to be liable for damages should be covered, even if the actual trigger pull was deliberate (say, accidentally shooting the neighbor's cat while aiming at an armed robber in your house). Just a few days ago I read about a few cases where bloggers got their butts pulled out of the fire when their umbrella policies paid for defense against libel suits. The policies should work the same way for suits involving firearms. IANAL, of course.

Breaking up the acronym train. Sorry. I just got my MTAC for the PPS and god drat is it great. My Galco holster was nice but had the problem of holding it pretty deep, which can make getting to the gun a little more difficult depending on position. In fairness, the Galco holster I use is specifically for a Glock 36, which is a longer overall gun (shameless self-promotion, comparison pictures here). The C-clips basically require me to put the holster on my pants without the belt, then slide the belt through them like they're extra loops, but it holds extremely well, and ironically seems to tuck better than the Galco did, which seems kind of odd.

I couldn't resist any longer, I went to buy a PPS this afternoon... And remembered as he was going over the form that I had just moved and my address is no longer valid. SO instead of fudging it (I've only been moved 2 days) being the honest guy I am I put it on layaway to make sure it doesn't walk while I wait for my new license.

Even if you only count the time from when everything cleared and it was then put in the mail, that took 10 days.

Did the address update online late last week, once I was actually getting mail at the new address, so I should have it any day now - the turnaround on DLs is pretty quick. The one I am worried about is the CHL and how long it might take.
