I am a closet nazi apologist.

In all fairness at least he isn't asking full MSRP for all that stuff. With that much ammo even if it's all reloads there is maybe $150 worth of salvagable components there. Even if the mags are all total crap with 20 of them you've got to figure that's worth about $100. The NVG is hilariously obsolete, but even so it has to be worth a few hundred. What's Gen 1 NVG go for these days? It says it comes with an IR emitter also, which would be nice. No way in hell I'd put it on a rifle, but I'm sure you could stick it on a tripod and find some use for it - watching deer in the backyard at night or whatever. Delton is kind of a poo poo AR company, right? Even so, the base rifle has to be worth at least $500 just as a functioning AR.

Even being fairly uncharitable I'd say he's got it marked up by no more than 25-30%. If he had listed it at $1500 I doubt we'd be making much noise besides "check out the retro as gently caress Gen 1 NVG."

Now, what is HILARIOUS are people who expect to get near MSRP out of 10+ year old electronics - be they gun related or not. There's a guy local to me who posted an add in the mail room of my condo complex offering a 10 year old computer projector for sale. I've been half in the market for one of those for a few years so I gave him a call. He wanted $400 for it and thought that was a steal because he paid $500 back before 9/11 and figured that with inflation that original $500 was worth even more.

You can buy much nicer, smaller projectors with better image quality for about half of that brand new at any given Best Buy in the country. Pointing this out in no way changed his price.

"Very early model"? The Bushmaster went into production in something like 1971, and by all appearances the one he has matches his mention of "the mid 80s".

Edit: it should have a trigger guard, too

I have for auction an original K43 German 8mm sniper rifle, all matching with exception of scope and mount. This beauty comes with 2 original mags, original sling, scope, mount, box it was shipped from Berlin in, and the capture paperwork. Very nice example of a WWII capture piece with provenance. THE best rifle I have seen in any museum here in the states or abroad for this particular make. Rifle is an AC45 manufacture captured in Berlin. Optics are pristine.

If she doesn't sell this time, I'm pulling her and keeping for another 15 years - no issue with that.

[Information added 10/10/2011 11:15:39 AM]
I understand there may be some question to the authenticity of the shipping box due to the fact that it was written in felt tipped pen - please be advised that the felt tipped pen was patented in 1910 by Lee W. Newman, patent number 946149.

[Information added 11/13/2011 7:34:47 PM]
Reserve will not be disclosed - thanks for looking.

Emphasis mine. "Buy it, or else you'll never see this rifle for sale again!" Looks like the internet called his bluff. Here it is a month and a half later and it's been relisted a half dozen times or so.

The capture paperwork is bogus. It looks like a photocopy. His description is a little vague as to whether it's the "original capture papers" or "copies of the original capture papers." But still, there's no way the ones photographed are from 1945.

Either way, gently caress this guy. In my experience, guys who go to such detail as to list the patent number for the type of pen used to mark the box are typically shysters of the least subtle ilk. I mean, really? Say what you want, but when you get that defensive and throw asinine, thinly-veiled threats out at your potential buyers, you're going to sit on your wares for a very long time.

Also, I couldn't read "no issue with that" in any voice other than Bill O'Reilly's.

They're fine; the FBI was happy with theirs until agents complained about the recoil from the full-house load they were using for duty ammo. When they dialed the power down, they realized they might as well just go to a .40 and get some magazine capacity back.

I would go for the 1076, because, you know, FBI gun. But my dad had a 1006 for a while and it was awesome as well.

Since the diameter of both rounds is the same, wouldn't the magazine capacity be the same too?

If it remained a single stack. The FBI loves its double stacks, but they couldn't do it with the 10mm because the grip was already big enough.
