I don't remember how much the Holocaust was covered in my history classes- I didn't pay attention to them because I read so much history on my own, and never had to pay attention to get good grades in History class. One of the most interesting Holocaust teaching tools was something my English teacher did in 8th grade. Our homework each night was to write 3 coloumns of names on a sheet of loose leaf. "John A., John B." etc. was ok. Each day she would hang up all the sheets around the room. When we were finished only one chalkboard was uncovered. Every other available space was covered. We didn't even get to 500,000 names. The day of the unit she made us stop and look around at the lists and try to fathom a person for each name and realize that we didn't make a dent in the estimated casualty totals.

I bought an M1 carbine from a kid in one of my college classes- we left class on break, drove over to a tractor trailer depot across from the school. I gave him money, he gave me the rifle. Jokes were abound about sniper over watch and Cuban hit teams. Then we went back to tell the professor about it. That same professor later bought it from me.

When I was a kid, I wanted to do reenacting because it looked like fun to run around with muskets. Now that I have met a bunch of reenactors...no. I have met some cool ones, but most are kinda cocktards. I think that it is a little early to re-enact OIF/OEF, but whatever. And that fictional reenacting is already done- it's called Deadliest Warrior.
