Jerusalem posted:Janie and Cy had a very hosed up relationship, her making out with the whores was deliberately to aggravate Cy and had very little if anything to do with sex. It was all about getting one up over the other or showcasing who was in control. Doesn't Janie's kissing Calamity Jane later on with no audience (that I recall) pretty much conclude that she's a lesbian?

Buane posted:Like others, I had one gripe when it came to characters and that was Bullock. But it's not that his character was boring, and it's not that Olyphant's acting was bad. Looking back, I simply feel that he was wrong for the part. There's so much potential there for Bullock to actually be a great character, but his "seething rage" feels kind of impotent at times - mostly because they don't measure up against other incredible "angry" performances in the show from McShane and Gerald McRaney and even Brad Dourif. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oMAl2fCYgCQ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_mB1l-V8yNc Brad Dourif was loving amazing in this show, and the Doc was easily my second-favorite character.

El Negocio posted:One thing I always liked about Deadwood (which the Wire did also) was that contrary to Hollywood reality, noone ever died in big shootouts. It was always sickenly close with a knife or fists, or at least an aimed shot at close range, and had some emotional impact behind it. "gently caress those San Fransisco hoopleheads, cause in Deadwood we aim to hit a cocksucker, you heard!" Besides, the most gun violence most Wild West towns saw in a year was less than ten deaths, not exactly the wanton high-noon bloodbath you'd expect.
