Basically in Wizardry 8, have at least one guy that can instakill. It's a lifesaver. And make sure to steal a keycard from one of the townspeople's house (in the spaceport town) that allows you to open their bank vault and get you a sweet sword that can be pretty overpowered early in the game.

I wasn't sure whether to post this in the new Wizardry thread but it seemed more appropriate here. I posted previously that I've found the audio in Wizardry 6 to have horrible popping before and after every sound effect. It was unbearable so I developed a fix for DOSBox to remove the issue. Here's how you can do the same: 1. Locate your 'Wizardry 6' installation folder. It should contain two sub-folders: DOSBOX and Wizardry 6. 2. Rename the DOSBOX folder to DOSBOX_backup 3. Download my updated DOSBox from here: http://www.davidwaltersdevelopment.com/labs/#dosbox 4. Extract the DOSBOX folder from this download into the Wizardry 6 folder as a replacement. 5. Open the "Wizardry 6" sub-folder, it's full of files for the game. 6. locate the file 'dosboxWizardry6.conf' and open in a text editor (it's the 8Kb one) 7. Scroll down to the line that says 'pcspeaker=true', it's on about line 139 8. below it add a new line that reads: popfix=true 9. Save and close the file. Run Wizardry 6 from the usual shortcut and hopefully the sound is better. It doesn't fix the background sounds playing too frequently though, I just turn them off because they're pretty crappy anyway. Not sure if the game ever had music.

So! I've never used GoG before, but I decided to try it so I could give darklands and ultima underworld a shot. I like the early elder scrolls games and the old D&D dungeon crawlers, so underworld one and two seem right up my alley. As for darklands, I'm really looking forward to project eternity, and people really recommend it. A couple questions though! First, what do I do in darklands. Like, what is the point or what should I be striving to do? Next, while it's cool that GoG set up my games for me on the computer with automatic dosbox shortcuts and all, I prefer to use my tablet to play old dos games. Weirdness of that aside, if I were to try and launch darklands or ultima through a dosbox command line, how would I do that? Or do my GoG downloads not let me?
