I wish they'd add Rules of Engagement (and its X-Com clone that linked up with the game to let you board enemy ships) to GOG especially since the company that made it is still around as a cell phone middleware company. I could never find a working copy of 2 online.

Not sure if 2 was the same, couldn't know anyhow since it's so hard to find.

Every version I've found online though has the same bug: if you fire your phasers a few times the charge goes to 0% and never recovers. I think it's an anti-piracy measure. My favorite was the new self destruct panel: you had to flip four switches and press a Big Red Button. It couldn't be cancelled if the timer dropped below 10 seconds. I want another one of those games! Rudimentary graphics but it didn't matter since you were staring at Star Trek control panels anyway. The closest thing to a modern version might be Starfleet Command or Artemis. 2 also came with an editor supporting branching campaigns and a ship creator, though I don't know of any third-party campaigns or ships. It's a shame because it's a great game.

SBCG4AP:E4:D3:TCP(I3D) is goddamn brilliant (and not just because it's a pay-only Duke-Nukem-Forever-level-delayed sequel to free products, insert spy movie villain laugh here). There's two narrative layers - the metafictional world of Dangeresque 3 and a bunch of people trying and failing to make an action movie. The twist is that your actions are entirely in the metafictional layer so you have to perform the mammoth task of suspending your disbelief. It really is Stick of Truth from before Stick of Truth. The other elements also smack heavily of the concept, especially Episode 2, where everyone secedes and starts their own countries. BiggerJ fucked around with this message at 06:52 on Sep 29, 2015 |

But if it's on sale at some point I'll probably grab it for some fun novelty stuff you can do. (I want to Iron-Man it and just replace dead characters with new ones, but for wizards I can only make Wild Mages)

Wild Mages just basically throw out random loving spells right? I always thought that would be way more fun if they could account for all the poo poo that could be possible, like whoops I transported a whale into the room :S but of course that would be impossible in a game ;(

How well does Spycraft hold up? I guess I should specify, is it something one could fairly logic their way through if they're not super great or patient with adventure games, or does it have a bunch of "gently caress yous" in it? That, and does it feel like you're a 1990's CIA spook?

I played it a few months back and found it fairly entertaining, especially as it relies more on information gathering for doing your work (and the use of the actual folks from their respective agencies is pretty cool). The big problem for me is that it stopped working shortly before the ending (Windows 8.1) and I don't really want to retry it. I just read through the LP instead. I think there was one puzzle that I referred to the LP for hints, and another one that was tedious enough that I used outside data as well.

i'm on a "buy games to play with a joy stick" kick and I've got Xwing, Tie Fighter, and Strike Commander in my cart. I already have the freespaces and XWA. Anything else I should consider? edit: I'm old and used to play the gently caress out of Falcon 3.0 in like 95 so I'm not overly crazy about poo poo being ultra modern

You can dial down the simmy aspects until it's basically and arcade game, or have it entirely too realistic to be fun without a HOTAS and levers and pedals. doctorfrog fucked around with this message at 08:47 on Oct 3, 2015 |

There are a couple of bullshit combat missions but only one of them is mandatory and it's not hard. I think you're going into it with a good mindset at least because when it came out it was supposed to be all about the most cutting-edge techniques real-life spies use, but now it is such a 90s throwback. Pretty much all the investigative work can be done with a smartphone now.

Archimedean Dynasty threw me with how buggy its mission scripting is. It also has a terrible German to English translation and German text strings everywhere. I see that the missions are all plain text so I assume there's a mod that fixes that.

Is Alone in the Dark New Nightmare graphically messed up for anyone else? It seems like the recent Microsoft update might have caused openGL to go haywire and not render the game properly. Couple of people have already been offered refunds on the gog forum, but I hope there is still a fix for the game. Is there even a fix for it or can I ask for a refund from the support team?

I bet games like Huniepop sell decently well too since it doesn't announce you playing them to the world like Steam does. Sell them uncensored and with the porn intact and Valve will be shaking in their boots before long.
