I don't think I've had any emulation problems with DOSBox, and I've used it a lot the past two years or so.
Just make sure to use something like D-Fend Reloaded, especially if you're going to play more than one game.

I'm 99% certain is the original, Apogee DOS-based version. Just with some weird license changing and optional HQ2X scalers or some crap.

Apparently it's not; it's the Windows version, with issues such as only being able to move at half speed when using keyboard controls and not being able to move to the right edge of the screen with mouse controls.
They should just have gotten the DOS-version and shoved it in DOSBox.

What? Is this worth the trade off for higher resolutions?

It should be perfectly playable using the mouse, but if you're like me and prefer the keyboard, it's not. The higher resolutions don't really mean anything since the sprites are the same size; rendering it at the highest resolution in DOSBox makes it look at least as good, though I guess the GOG version does widescreen.

I'm looking to get Two Worlds when I finally pick out a new laptop, and it looks like Two Worlds off GOG isn't compatible with Windows 7 (which my laptop will most likely be). I also know a good chunk of their games don't work on 7 yet, is there a timeframe for changing that? Or is there some sort of "XP/Vista Compatibility" mode in 7? I admit I know almost nothing about it...

I haven't had any problem with any of the GOG games I've played on my W7 computer (Two Worlds isn't one of them, though), but if there's a problem there is an XP compatibility mode.

Does Outcast even use the graphics card in any way? The original release was totally software rendering, wasn't it?

It's still the graphics card that does all the scaling, you can usually set it up so it stretches while maintaining aspect ratio.

It wasn't a Steam sale so much as being on Steam for the preorders for Defcon that allowed them to stay afloat. They got shafted by their old publisher (Strategy First) and were owed around a half million to a million for Uplink sales.

That was a while back; they were saved by the latest Christmas Steam sale as well: http://forums.introversion.co.uk/in...opic.php?t=2512

Hey guys, are there any must-have mods for Freespace 2?

As long as you're using the Source Code Project, not really. You might want to install the higher quality textures, but the SCP installer can do that for you, I believe.

They need to work on making SCP easier to use.

I downloaded the automatic installer, but that only automates one of the steps. You've still got to follow a badly-written guide on a forum, and download several different files and put them all in the right place.

Or at least, I had to.

Really? I just had to install FS2 and run the SCP installer.

Looks like everything is on sale except Interplay (We need every penny for the FO MMO), Activision (We're only on this GoG thing to look better than EA), and Sierra (You mean there's still people willing to pay money for Roberta's adventures?).

Activision's sale will start in 3 days, though.

The number is three.

Is it three?

There's also Xenonauts, a spiritual successor to X-Com. It's looking pretty good so far, and is due out later this year.

I think Tim Schafer admitted on the latest Double Fine Action Cast that that jump actually *is* broken.

Since they've released the source, it's bound to get patched by the community. Get it.

General consensus seems to be just to focus on charisma and maybe intelligence/wisdom. Don't worry too much about battles, since you can't actually die.

My main problem is the Aliens always seem to get the drop on me. I'm constantly short on action points (or whatever they're called) and my soldiers get one-shotted. Do you get the option to upgrade their armor?

Still, it's a fun game and I see why it's got such a large following.

Research Alien Alloys to get the first armor upgrade.
My tip would be to keep it slow in the beginning, and save AP for reaction shots on the soldiers that are close to corners and such. Also, always use autoshot.
