So, they're thinking of having higher price points for more recent games (under pressure from certain publishers). Any thoughts? 'Cuz that's just terrible.

frowning posted:Odd, I thought this was the same one that's been on Steam that has the fan patch. What's the story with this one, worth looking at? Incredibly atmospheric RPG, Diablo style, where you gain awesome vampiric powers as you progress. The story is a lot of fun. You start out as a crusader and end up in modern times. With guns. Yeah, it's less lame than it sounds. The story is pretty cool, I still have the thick manual explaining all the different Vampire factions and such. The less that's spoiled about the little story aspects, the better. It's really cool discovering on your own. Dissapointed Owl fucked around with this message at 14:22 on Feb 4, 2010 |

It's worth the 6 bucks. That's all that needs to be said. Gotta give kudos to Activision for not pulling an Ubisoft vis-à-vis pricing.

It is odd how much a central game list means to me as a way of remembering that I even have the games. ? Can't you just use 'add non-steam game to list'?

Back in 2004 or 2005 I had a lot of fun with the first BloodRayne but that wasn't because it was good or anything. It was just crazy. Leaping into a room, guns blazing, chopping some Nazi heads off before jumping on top of a general and sucking him dry while turning him around and shooting the just arriving reinforcements. All in slowmotion. It's been about 5 years since I've played it, so this might just be nostalgia talking. Part 2 isn't supposed to be very good but it was 2 bucks. Advent Rising isn't supposed to be good but I got it anyway. So to answer your question... ehm... no, not really.

Wait, they said that there's a reason that they can't give their paying customers access to their files, right? And they said that it'll be 'fixed' (ie. access will be restored) in a few days, right? Calm the hell down. I'd hate to see the day Steam goes offline for a week because of some server failure. The internet will run crimson with digital, pixelated blood! (I seriously doubt this is a PR stunt.)

If GOG is down because of sudden legal or financial issues beyond their controls then it sucks, but that's how it goes. If this is a stunt that's completely within their control or they're purposefully being vague about what's going on to "build suspense" or whatever then they seriously need to fire their PR guy for thinking that messing with paying customers is a good idea. Agreed, that's why I noted the fact that I'm convinced this isn't a PR stunt.

Ehm, that's not the question I was answering? doctorfrog posted:Yep. I already do this with all my data: pictures, work I've done, emo crap I wrote in high school, and Awesome Games of the Past, the whole biz is replicated on portable hard drives at home, and in the homes of friends. I'll probably eventually put a drive in a safety deposit box. It would be overkill for just GOG games, but it's not overkill when you have other irreplaceable data that's important enough. My point was, you can't back-up a cd as easily as file.
