Just chiming in to say TOCA 3 is really great. I'm not really into racing games, but I'm really getting into this one. The graphics still hold up reasonably well, and there's huge variety to the race and vehicle types available. Glad I went and picked it up.

Of course, the other advantage to GoG is that they give you stand-alone installs. There's that added bit of security in knowing you can backup your downloads and you're guaranteed to have the game forever, as opposed to Steam where you have to rely on Valve's software and the promise that "one day" they'll hand over the install files.

I bought Red Baron over Christmas and had absolute hell trying to get it to work with my Win7 system and Thrustmaster 16000m. I haven't been able to play it since I bought it. Anyone else having problems?

teethgrinder posted:My question is, how playable is Red Baron 3D nowadays and are there any modernising projects for it? The forums seem kind of vague though they have compatibility patches. Post if you do find anything, I couldn't figure it out.

Overwined posted:I'm thinking that someone should make a new MoO 1/2 thread now that both of these games are available commercially for the first time in forever. I would like to suggest "MoO 1&2: Oh no! my planetz!" as a thread title. I agree! I've just been playing MoO2 and wow, it holds up way better than I expected. I actually think I understand more of it too, since back when I was a kid some of the stuff like morale and how production was calculated went a bit over my head. I still don't get how to do the battle sections properly though, like how to tell if my ships are in range, or why 5x missiles might be better/worse than 20x missiles. Anyone got any tips? AxeManiac posted:No, nothing like spore. More like those catz and petz games. Tamagotchi for PC. Really? I always thought the Creatures series was supposed to be much more in-depth, like adventure games, than the Petz series. Does anyone know which one is the "best"? There has to be an obvious purchase amongst the three they've released.

Hogburto posted:Hey, guys, I am shocked at how GOG is lining the pockets of lawyers against their fans and some nice old grandmothers running zombie boxes; they're just like the RIAA now and I can't believe their willing to attach their financial resources, nay -their very name to a lawsuit which is clearly not morally sound. I like them, but sending cease and desist letters to people pirating their game is wrong. I am willing to state if I think something is morally wrong for GOG to do, but cannot explain my reasoning beyond ill-fitting metaphors and analogies. Take it or leave it. I have to agree completely with this. The only people who will benefit from this are the lawyers, and I'd much rather the pirates "win" than give a penny to those bloodsuckers. And that's even assuming that this would do anything to curb piracy, which it won't. All it'll do is lose them customers who disagree with their practices. It's hard to overestimate how bad this is in terms of PR. I can't imagine how anyone with a level head would think that this was a good idea. teethgrinder posted:Edit: holy crap, the company is still active and is finishing up an iPhone/iPad update!! This is INSANE.... that they aren't releasing it on Android! aaagihoijdangdjh Still, after all these years (decades?) it's nice to know they haven't dug themselves into a bankruptcy hole from doing sod-all. Hopefully they'll hire some AI programmers to fix the game and not just port it. Jimlad fucked around with this message at Dec 16, 2010 around 18:16 |
