I really liked Rise of the Triad when I was like 12 years old. I think a lot of it had to do with the gibs and the weird sense of humor. Is it worth getting again, or should I just let my fond memories be my last dealings with it? It's on sale still, I think.

It wasn't going to really take that much convince me and you talked me into it. Thanks for the link for the port, as it was not a very pretty looking game without that. It's pretty cool though and I'm glad I got it. Plus that was my first time using GOG, so I'm glad to help those guys out. Also the game has a pretty fun soundtrack. hogswallower fucked around with this message at May 3, 2009 around 15:53 |

Are the Tex Murphy games victims of really obscure puzzle solutions like a lot of older adventure games or are they pretty logical? The settings sound like they're right up my alley, but I've never played any of them before.

What's the word on Ghost Master? It's been on sale on steam a few times in the past but I never got it for whatever reason and it's still on sale till the end of the day on gog so I was curious. It sounds like that game Haunting for the Genesis from way back when which I always wanted to try but never actually did. Anybody tried it?

I was surprised that it did.

That actually gets me thinking that there are still a ton of good Apogee games they should have on this service. If they threw out a huge bundle of all the poo poo I used to play on my 486 I'd be all over it.

MonkeyforaHead posted:Pretty much everything of theirs missing from GOG is on http://www.buy3drealms.com -- I guess they just put the Duke games on GOG because they're popular and kept everything else to themselves because they don't want to be sharing all their profits. Some of it is pretty unreasonably priced too (especially considering you can get poo poo like the full Commander Keen pack on Steam for $5) but... well, it's there. I guess I knew about that but I put it out of my mind because i didn't have any desire to pay 6 bucks for nearly 20 year old games or whatever. Oh well, I'll just have to live with the memories and the six billion other games in my backlog that I don't have time to play even now. Buying games from digital distribution sites is like a mental illness or something.

Also there's a coop mode You weren't kidding about that control scheme. It definitely is going to take some getting used to. Decent enough little game though and Gog needs my money.

I got Enclave for some reason because I always wanted to try it out back in the xbox days but never felt like it. It's generic as hell but it's a pretty good time if you just wanna beat some poo poo up. Really nothing super special at all, though. It's got multiple characters and weapons and it can be pretty fun to snipe goblin heads with a crossbow. Definitely worth the 6 bucks if you've got nothing else to play. Which I know is not true for about 90% of you posting in here. Or me.

I haven't played Postal 2 since it first came out so I thought I'd give it a try again. By all logic, there's no reason for me to like it: it looks lovely, the level design is retarded, the AI is terrible but I'll be god damned if I still don't find it entertaining. Especially with that A Week in Paradise mod that adds the expansion stuff into the main game. My favorite is still the gas can.

Ok, after having watched you people gush about Planescape for years and years on here, I'm officially curious enough to just give in and try it out. Before I do though, I've never been able to tell if the game is particularly difficult or frustrating just from reading all the praise. Will I find it challenging or will I be able to just kind of relax and enjoy the ride? Also, wasn't there some mod that people were talking about earlier in the thread that is basically mandatory for it?

So I just started playing Torment and put about an hour into it. I'm enjoying it more than I thought I would, actually! For some reason I had it in my head that it was tolkienesque fantasy but it's not like that at all. It's actually a pretty unique setting which makes it that much more interesting. I see what everyone has been saying about the combat, though. It is not good. A few questions: what is the run key again? Second, this is about stuff that occurs really early on, but I'll spoil it anyway for anyone who wants to go in completely blind as I have somehow managed to do in spite of having infinite opportunities to spoil it for myself. Are there consequences to dying in that first part? In other words, should I reload an old save? It just bumped me back up to the slab I started on so I wasn't sure and saved on a different slot in case something negative could come from that.
