How is this airing on ABC? Oh wait - good show that's probably going to be canceled. They've got a reputation to maintain. Now it makes sense. JustV fucked around with this message at Apr 9, 2009 around 00:55 |

Ok, I gotta admit this show is pretty good. Now I haven't exactly been 'watching' the show as I am usually doing something else while it plays in the backround (it's how I give a show a chance) and I keep laughing at the jokes and the parts I watch. The scene with the segregated water fountains really made me laugh out loud. edit - Hahahahahahahahahahahaha. Hired minimal wage white guys to follow around the black employees. "Penisly speaking" is the best phrase ever uttered. edit - JustV posted:OK, what is "Money before people" in Latin? According to an online translation it would be: Viaticus pro populus

TMMadman posted:According to an online translation it would be: Viaticus pro populus I think that's probably the wrong translation for people since it should really be the plural of person rather than "the people". I think there's a better word for money, as well. It's been years since I've done any latin, though. edit: Again, haven't done this in a while, but from my poking around in dictionaries it looks like it might be: pro hominibus argenti or ante homines argenti Not really sure which one makes more sense for this use of "before". I'd go with "Ante homines pecunia" That's the more common word for money and "pro" has so many uses that it'd be confusing and ambiguous imo

I wish this show wasn't on at 8:30, after Scrubs. It's much better than Scrubs. I always catch the last minute when I tune in to Lost, and then I remember when it's on and have to hunt it down.

It's funny you say that, because I always catch Ted in full, but only because I remember that Scrubs is on sometime around :20-25, just about when it's over. Anyway, tonight's episode was great (and better than the last, as the trend seems to be), and it sucks that this show isn't getting enough attention -- meaning it will ultimately be canceled just before or around the time it reaches its prime.

Oh god that episode was hilarious. As a 30 Rock fan I'd say this show has surpassed it as the best comedy on TV. Let's just hope they can keep this up. I can't imagine how they'd be able to top racist motion detectors. edit: Lem is by far my favorite character, followed closely by Veronica. gret fucked around with this message at Apr 9, 2009 around 04:27 |

I've DVR'd the show the last 3 weeks out of curiosity, and while I thought it was ok, last night was the first episode that I thought was HILARIOUS. I laughed out loud at several points, and hope the show is picking up steam and viewers.

I like to think this show has a chance. Looking at its ratings compared to Scrubs, it looks like it actually keeps a good number of Scrub's audience, so maybe it might get paired with a successful comedy. The issue with a show like this is that you have to lay down the backstory before you can start being funny, which is why I think a few of the earlier episodes were slow. But then last night was hilarious. I laughed for minutes on end at some jokes, especially the Veridian opening.

Also, we should all remember that Portia de Rossi is loving crazy hot and that alone is a good enough reason to watch the show. It really is a shame that she plays for the same team and I still don't know how the butterface Ellen managed to snag her.

Late to the party, but this fourth episode was by far the best so far. Everything was ridiculously un-PC and I loved it. When they were giving the boardroom presentation and showed how the whole world would be working for them by 2013, I just about died. Also this exchange: "I mean it's weird, Linda and I haven't had sex and it's complicated. You and I had sex that one time and it's no big deal" "Well I'm different than other women Ted. And by different, I mean better" The Mash fucked around with this message at Apr 10, 2009 around 07:06 |

Now I am not saying you are wrong for picking Linda over Portia because we all have our own personal preferences. But objectively speaking, Portia blows Linda out of the water in the terms of pure hotness.

TMMadman posted:der juicen, you know I respect you and we generally get along, but yes I think you are broken for not recognizing that Portia is way hotter than Linda. You're forgetting the all important larger boob factor. Portia is crazy hot, but bigger boobs wins out. This show is very funny, but I just can't see it lasting. They maybe went too far too quick with the segregated fountains, at least in my mind. It's peaking too early, unless somehow they can keep that level of comedy up.

I have to agree that the show has a great Dilbert feel to it. If Linda just keeps getting crazier, the will thy/won't they thing will be funny.
