And I just realized that I never watched those episodes from a couple weeks back (I didn't think the show would still be on during the holidays, but I still had a program in my PVR), and I loved the lightbulb joke: "I've made up a new joke: How many Product testers does it take to change a lightbulb?" "I don't know." "Seven." That was funny because it was a non-sequitur, then it became a funny aneurism moment when she immediately followed it up with: "... but the end needs work."

This show has come to the point with so many great moments and lines, I can't even remember any the next day at work. Discussion of the show consists of mentioning you saw it, giggling for a while, then someone finally remembers another one quote or moment and giggling continues, repeat. Show will be missed.

It's funny how this show actually gets a pretty regular time schedule (except the weird Jan 1 one), but it's just on when nothing else is on.

You've got to feel for Portia Di Rossi being in 2 of the best comedies around and getting canned early both times. I wonder what we could mass-mail to the studio to make them renew it.

wow I was on Hulu this weekend and there were like 6 episodes I hadn't seen before, they're burning off episodes like crazy. I like the new Linda, she started out as a bit more of a straight person and love interest but now she's pretty loopy. I also like her references to her life in Wisconsin, in one episode she said something like "I didn't escape from the cheese mines in Wisconsin for this!" and then in one of the next episodes in kind of a callback she said something like "It's times like these I wish I had stayed in Wisconsin and gotten my master's in cheese sciences" Fast Luck fucked around with this message at Jan 7, 2010 around 18:45 |

I used to think that Arrested Development got the short end of the stick getting canceled on their third season but really I can name a ton more shows that never even got a second season pick up. Calling their third season cancellation 'early' just feels wrong now. I'm so jaded when Better Off Ted got a second season I wasn't happy; I just wasn't disappointed in network television for the umpteenth time.

A friend gave me the season one DVD a few days ago and demanded I watch it. Now I've splurged through both seasons and haven't had so much fun with a show in so long, I literally can't remember when. Most comedies end up as half filler, but Ted is like an ancient Peruvian martial art involving forceful and repeated slapping administered by an oversexed magician. Only the slaps are jokes. And the oversexed magician is great writing.

I just got my season 1 DVD for Ted. I can never get enough of Win Some, Dose Some and Goodbye, Mr. Chips - "75 employees crammed themselves into a knapsack and shot themselves into space." As soon as they got rid of the relationship angle between Ted and Linda the show skyrocketed in quality. To the person earlier who said that the characters need more development, the first few episodes attempted to set that up but it just leads to unnecessary drama and angst which really detracts from great jokes like "Oh look at me I'm Linda and I'm making fun of everyone". We have simplified television genres such as 'comedy' and 'drama' because it is very difficult to do both. You can have funny moments in dramas but dramatic moments in comedies always end up falling flat because the audience is expecting a joke. And when the show finally makes that joke the tension is relieved and the drama ends up being meaningless. I'm perfectly happy with quick humour and ridiculous situations and leave the drama for a show that can benefit from it.

It debuted over the summer and got burned off quick. It was then an unadvertised midseason replacement that nobody had seen the first season of. Then the scheduling got even more bizarre, including a new years day friday airing ABC never really gave it a chance.
