I don't know how you guys can stand to cheese the Tower Knight like that. Besides being harder it's also loving boring to stand on the wall launching poo poo at him. Once you learn his attacks and know how to dodge he's pretty drat easy to kill by running around his legs slicing and blasting. You might have to run for safety every so often but still he's probably the easiest boss overall.

Ugh gently caress I've got this game sitting at home waiting for me and I haven't played since the import. Now I need to figure out what class to play!! I seem to remember it being pretty easy with a magic user but then I got raped by those laser beam shooting shadow things and couldn't beat that level. Basically what I'm asking for is a slight nudge in the "do this for the easiest time" direction.

Is there any way to play the class without constantly drinking spices? It looks like I'm pretty much following this build: http://tinypic.com/player.php?v=287is6b&s=5 I wish there were more magic focused armors and weapons.

evilalien posted:What level scaling? As far as I know the game has no level scaling at all though the world tendency will affect how hard things are. You are going to have to down a lot of spices, but those are dirt cheap anyways. You should have enough of a Mana pool so that you don't have to do it constantly at least. I thought the higher your soul level was the harder enemies were. No? Maybe people have figured out the game more from when I last played it but I could have sworn it was advised not to dump too many points into leveling up your dude because everything else got a lot harder. If that in fact isn't the case then gently caress, time to farm some souls and beef up my intelligence.

Well my goal is basically to just beat the loving game at least once. Right now I'm still rocking the starting magician's robes with the silver wand and would love something better. If in fact that doesn't exist I guess I'll have to beef up my soul level instead. But yeah last night I got angry at my mage and started a melee character. I really should look at these builds though because I don't know what makes a great PvE melee character either. I think I started a temple knight, ditched the armor, and are now rocking the tattered robes females can wear from 1-1. e: i like being able to run and dodge

Man the Yellow Turban Monk boss is a hell of a lot harder when it's controlled by the AI. That sun of a bitch was relentless and I didn't have a second to put up Warding or munch down on any herbs or spice. I also think he might have been resistant to fire because my attacks (both melee and magic) weren't doing jack to him. Hopefully the next time I try there will be some idiot controlling him and I'll just smack him down. But what's a good low requirement melee weapon and/or shield I should be aiming for? I'm rocking the Dragon Long Sword +1 you find in 2-2 right now and it's pretty great along with the Dark Heater Shield +1. I haven't upgraded anything yet just so I have tons of materials for when I need it. Any suggestions? My dude is primarily magic but I usually have a shield out as well and dispatch weak dudes with melee.

Kaptain K posted:If you're focusing on Magic you should be assembling a Crescent weapon ASAP, they do a fantastic amount of damage in addition to giving some paltry MP regeneration. I'd recommend making a Crescent Uchigatana from scratch, Darkmoonstone is very plentiful and a Pure Darkmoonstone is relatively easy to obtain. Is the Uchigatana really that much better than the Falchion? I already have a Crescent Falchion so upgrading that more would be really simple and wouldn't require me putting any more points into strength and agility. Looking at the Demon's Souls wiki they seem close with the Uchigatana doing 125/133/0 and the Falchion at 112/119/0.

It also looks cooler and if you're a dude you can wear the ancient king's breastplate/arms and the venerable sage's boots and the assassin's mask and you'll look like Reptile from Mortal Kombat. With a katana. Well I'm sold. But yeah, the durability thing really won't be an issue. I pretty much repair everything whenever I'm back at the Nexus anyway. It's a paltry fee. But man, now I'm even planning for New Game+ and I haven't even gotten past where I got stuck with the Asian release back in the day. I'm going to make it my goal to beat this game on Saturday though. I can't stop loving thinking about it.
