Match Of The Day is worse without Henry.

Lucas Matías Licht

A dream goal. Look at the dip on that. Could he do that again?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-t5MF7NRQh4

Roberto Carlos

His famous swerving free kick. I could watch this one over and over. It amazes me that someone can manipulate a ball like that.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8DNfgibZO5o

Dennis Bergkamp

Probably edges out his other famous one for Holland just because of his outrageous touch here.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sS83H-u_ac4

Steven Gerrard

Spoiled for choice here but I've always loved this one against Boro. The way he slows down before he hits it but still gets such power.

ok, now you. goals will be judged on the Lawro-meter.

Lawro is neutral at the moment.

Yes Harper fell, but do you know why he fell? Because the power and pace of the shot had him tripping over himself to get back to save it.

Best goal I have seen in person: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JfljnD8thqM (Happens from the 1:00 mark)

Richard "The Black Shearer" Offiong heads the ball over a defender, uses his pace to run onto his own pass and blasts an unstoppable thunderbolt past the keeper from about 30 yards

I don't wanna derail this from all the goal posting stuff but I went to the Ajax stadium last year (twice) and took the tour etc. There is a little theatre bit in the museum which plays some terrible film which showing the Ajax legends as youngsters playing in the street. It was so incredibly cheesy, it even ended with Van Bastan winking at the camera. But some of the goals they produced in that era were phenomenal.

My favourite is that Cruyff one where he volleys it in from an impossible angle on the right side of the goal. Can't find it on youtube but it'll be sandwiched in some compilation somewhere.

Lawro is getting easily distracted. Must be the lack of truly great goals in this thread. Let's not lose this one guys.

Rangers died, shoujo Hitler cried ;_;

I think my favourite goals as a fan are these ones.

Jean-Claude Darcheville

This is a counter-attacking goal. Rangers might have played defensively, but they still needed someone to score at some point, and watching it now reminds me of watching it live, just sat worrying and worrying about our defence, until Broadfoot played that ball.

Steven Whittaker

I can guarantee nearly every Rangers fan was shouting PASS! PASS! PASS! PAFUCKING GET IN when that goal was scored. I don't think he'll ever score better, or more important, Rangers were under the cosh for the half hour after the first goal, and that just was just...

And going back some....

Jorg 'The Hammer' Albertz

Those first two free kicks, and a couple more. Just for the sheer power.

More recently...

Peter Crouch

Everyone called him odd and poo poo, and then he proves that he can score like that. Twice.

Paul Gascoigne

Just brilliant.

Joe Cole

One touch, two touch, three touch, goal.

And that Argentina one where they just play keep away.

However, Carlos Alberto's goal against Italy might be better just for the nonchalance that Brazil play with.

Haha holy loving poo poo. That match was such a nail-biter, we all wanted the lads to win against Italy so badly. Scoring in the 10th minute then defending for 80 is not good for the heart.

That's so awesome, you rarely see a good compilation of a quality defender like that, his work was just as vital as the goal, and it's the whole variety, headers, tackles, blocking shots, positioning. Excellent stuff.
