Almost all the big teams do, probably because idiots like me keep buying the new shirts, but some teams have 2 year contracts (redesign every 2 years) or other lengths.

edit: gravitydemon beat me to it.

Nummer 4????

Many teams do new home jerseys every two years but new away shirts every year. Arsenal have done this in the recent past, going two years with home shirts and turning the previous year's away into the third kit.

Apparently they haven't killed their own market off doing this yet, but god it seems kind of unsustainable to me. But what do I know.

Does anyone have any idea where I could get an Adidas 1970s Holland home shirt? My google-Fu is drawing a blank, despite searching for 'Holland' 'Netherlands' and 'Dutch' shirt. The only things I've seen are £500+ vintage framed shirts, but I'm willing to spend £40 or so on an Adidas replica...

Their stuff is good quality in my experience. I have a Liverpool one I got in 01 and it's still in good nick.

Thanks bud, I'm thinking the retro route as I can't find the current home shirt anywhere in the UK to replace my battered '05 shirt. Plenty of places stock the White away shirt though :-/

Arsenal's kits are made from recycled cola bottles. There's nothing unsustainable about it.

I know all about Considered Design, I live right near Nike's headquarters. What I meant was burning out your customers from a business sense. Eventually demand is going to wane and people aren't going to be willing to buy three new kits a year. At that point teams may find it a losing proposition to have three new kits a year. Demand has been going up and up as they uncover new markets, but sooner or later that's going to run out and enough of "the masses" are going to have enough shirts. Then they're going to have to stick with designs for more than a year.

what're you talking about, there's whole subsections of society who's only upper body clothing garments appear to be club branded gear. that stuff wears out eventually and it's gotta be replaced.

anyway, i'm pretty sure that the clubs are keeping track of purchases. if people stop buying as many shirts they just make less shirts. problem solved.

We did, and that's not just from the papers; team employees have confirmed it.

Same source said that the checks visible on this year's strip would be more emphasized, so the underlying kit would make since. But, FxPro won't be the sponsor (nobody knows who it is, speculation is HTC but the only reason for believing that is b/c HTC released a "free" Villa app recently to their phones while you have to pay on other Android platforms and the iPhone). Also odd, because the home strip doesn't come out until July, while the away comes out in June; you'd think the "sooner" one would leak first.

Also, any body seen the back of Arsenal's new strip to know if they're still doing the team name below the collar like that? I don't like it, and if this is the new Villa strip, I'm disappointed it's there.

I just don't understand how that design gets to the table. They play in black and white stripes. How does any kit that isn't based on normal, black and white alternating stripes ever even begin to get designed? Why did it even enter into someone's head?
