Dragon Jones posted:Pointyball jerseys just seem like you're getting less for your money since they're mostly mesh. The Raiders still have a pretty awesome jersey, though. I like to tell myself that actual sewn-on cloth numbers and patches make up for spending $80 on something that probably cost about 50 cents to produce.

I generally think American football jerseys look dumb on people not wearing pads, but I be damned if I can find non-jersey Ravens shirts that aren't hideous.

Aren't the manufacturers making the "retro" look a big thing for 2010? I'm half expecting our home shirt to have a red sash like the 1950 version. Or a big red chevron like this year's Man United.

drat, Adidas just can't make up it's mind. On one hand, they go with timeless and simple like Argentina and South Africa. On the other, we get Mexico and the new Russia kit: I'm not a fan of the odd textures on the back. Nothus fucked around with this message at Nov 12, 2009 around 15:49 |

I guess the colors were off in that earlier shot of the Mexico shirt. What's with the texture? Is it something uniquely Mexican? And the red armpit accents are dumb.

Speaking of the English kit, why did they bother adding the star above their crest if they turn around and make it the same color as the shirt?

Guitar_Hero posted:What is up with those weird red stripes on the sleeves of all the Nike kits? The version the players will wear have world cup patches on the sleeves, which will help make those accent bars less jarring. The sash on the US home is pointless. At least make the pinstripe borders red or something to give a little color and continuity with the outgoing design.

Soccer Triads is now carrying the USA away shirt, if you happen to be a Medium or X-Large. Given that the Large Arsenal away I ordered from them turned out to be hilariously small, the XL is probably more like a L to us chubby westerners.

There's too much white space, it has a silly font that already looks dated, and the bizarre stylized football is silly. There's nothing about that banal shield, other than the fact that it's 10 shades of green, that makes it distinctly Irish. The former crest you guys used in the 1990's was awesome. But this one looks like something a hung-over 1st year design student would poo poo out on a Sunday night with a Monday morning deadline.

Directorman posted:Friend, we're not a footballing superpower by any means. So, in pretty much every competition outside of CONCACAF, we are huge underdogs. We've hosted one World Cup and qualified for each one since 1990, we routinely win our Confederation tournament, and we frequently beat top-tier teams. We're a second-tier power and perform about as expected given the sport's relative place in the hierarchy of American athletics. The 1990 team were underdogs. Now we're merely average. This isn't to say the joy is gone. I'm pretty proud of what we've accomplished in 20 years. It's just that constantly claiming to be some kind of Miracle On Ice-style upstart gets to be a little tired as the years go by. Nothus fucked around with this message at Apr 30, 2010 around 13:42 |
