This video rules, but it's not a review of anything, it's more like one of his Cinemassacre horror things.

The over-the-top line at the end of the Mr. Bucket video made me laugh for a while. It's hard to call that a review, just a short film that centers around a children's toy.

He quickly reviewed the thing then let it spiral out of control into awesome. The review is that there isn't much to a toy aimed at kids 2-4 years old.

hello internet posted:I should have been more specific. Everything besides his AVGN videos have been lacking quality Agreed. Yes, there isn't much to say about something like Mr. Bucket, so then maybe you shouldn't do a video about Mr. Bucket. But he does, and then makes a poor short film about Mr. Bucket wanting to suck on his balls. He goes through all this effort over THIS but couldn't be bothered at all to do anything for HeroQuest. ![]() I don't know. Maybe I'm just expecting him to take on the Board James series the same way he handles the AVGN series, and detail the games and their history in an informative and entertaining matter, and get pissed off when necessary. But if he's trying to make this into something completely different, then it just seems the direction he's going with it is one I really am not enjoying. I would LOVE a video series that covered board games like that though.

Gotta agree that his board game reviews have been pretty lame. Guy just doesn't seem to have any enthusiasm when it counts. If you want GOOD boardgame reviews, you have only to check out Downtimetown, the new free-time project by BBC funnyman and all-round supernerd Robert Florence. His video-review of the new edition Space Hulk is gold. He literally sings the praises of Overwatch as a gameplay element. It's a pity he doesn't do these more often, but he's off shooting TV shows most of the time, so there's not much time for geekery. Edit: Warning, contains strong Glasgow accent.

There's something about his sense of timing in a lot of his skit cuts that bothers me--it's hard to put my finger on it, but it feels like there's just a couple seconds of dead air on a lot of the cuts that shouldn't be there.

Who? AVGN or Florence? Because if it's the latter, that's intentional. Dude loves his slightly unsettling video editing.

Just watched the Mr. Bucket video. I haven't really seen much of his actual Cinemassacre videos, but I can tell he really knows (and loves) his B-movie horror films. I actually like the classic/retro/black-and-white style of horror films of yore better than the gore films of today.

Judging from the comments here, I feel like a minority by liking this. He and Mike pretty much explained the entire game, but the horror stuff was actually pretty entertaining.

Well it's mixing two contrasting groups. The nerds and the horror geeks don't seem to get as well along as you'd expect I think. I dunno. I liked it and I like bad horror movies.

I also enjoyed the Mr. Bucket horror sequence. I dug the references in the cinematography to old silent-era horror films such as (to name the one in the video) Nosferatu.

If he were talking about an in-depth board game (or a board game in general) other than something like Mr Bucket, I would've expected more 'fact' rather than 'horror/fiction'. But what the gently caress else are you going to say about Mr Bucket? Well done. Although it's weird and gross to think about James'/Mike's balls.

All of his merchandise and such is sold via Screwattack I believe AND they host his latest AVGN stuff... at least, that held true until the latest Action 52 vid which is oddly only on GT. *shrug*
