Does release date shipping overnight it? I've noticed if you choose whatever is cheapest (especially the free one) they do take a few days to ship it.

You get it on release day, by 7 or pm. And as you can see, it's only a dollar more than standard shipping. This was how the shipping looked for my Zune HD's release day shipping on September 15th: code:

Release-day shipping is free with Amazon Prime, but it doesn't tell you what 'type' of shipping it is (release-day is the type). It'll be interesting to see if I get it Thursday.

Ah, that would be it, I've only ever bought pre-release with Prime, so I just checked that, I guess. fishmech posted:I ordered $5.58 Release Day Shipping on my Zune HD preorder and I got it on launch day at 3 PM. Yeah, what I'm saying is that they were shipping it out the day before on overnight shipping so I got it release day every time I pre-ordered, not that I was checking next day and getting it day after. Sorry if that was unclear.

I just installed it last night after talking myself out of it for a couple weeks. I wonder why I waited. My loving scanner that I could never get to work properly in XP worked immediatly after installation. No drivers, nothing. I'm always a wimp about changing my system, but I cannot give this OS enough love. This is the best pre SP OS I've ever used.

I ordered Windows 7 from Amazon.co.uk using 1st class post and it has shipped tonight via DHL. I guess Amazon and/or Microsoft don't want the Royal Mail ruining the launch.

Has anyone ordered direct from Microsoft? I did because I took advantage of the student offer. I'm wondering what they use to deliver their packages. I don't have a DVD burner so can't really install until I get the DVD.

I just pulled the trigger on the "Home Premium 3-Pack" upgrade, and now I am noticing, unlike the "Home Premium" (Single User) upgrade, it makes no mention of including both 32 and 64 bit versions (I want 64 bit). Am I screwed? Also, if it does include the 64 bit version, I should have no license issues upgrading Win XP Pro SP2 (Oem) to Win 7 "Home Premium" 64, correct? Edit: This is what I bought: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...rd_i=1286119011

I noticed the other night an imaging utility listed in the Recovery options. From what was said on the other page, am I correct in thinking that this is essentially Norton Ghost but integrated into the OS? The reason I'm asking is that I'm upgrading my parents' computers to 7 when their pre-orders arrive later on this month. From prior experience, I know that something will go awry with one or both of their systems before the year is out. Thanks to the magic of external hard drives and sync software, all I'm really worried about is how to easily get the system itself up and running again. Being able to reload off an image with all their programs already installed and ready to go would save me a lot of trouble as well as about sixty dollars in gas. My parents are computer-literate enough to figure out how to hit F8 on startup and point the computer at a disk image, so I hope I'm right about the imaging stuff.

Am I screwed? I don't know if it comes with 64 bit discs, but you can use the same keys for 32 bit and 64 bit, and you can use an Upgrade edition to go from 32 bit XP to 64 bit 7. You have to do a clean install for XP to 7 anyway, so I imagine you don't much care that you have to do clean install for all 32 bit to 64 bit upgrades.

The cd keys aren't tied to 32/64 versions, just the actual edition. Not sure why everyone seems so terrified of just torrenting the 64 bit versions if they only have the 32. Just check the hash and it's literally the exact same thing.

RTM = Release to manufacturing. It's the final retail version. You have to buy it to get it. RC = Release Candidate, it's no longer legally available. You can torrent it and it's good till March.

Just discovered thanks to following @MSWindows on Twitter, press the Windows key and any arrow key and just watch the awesomeness that unfolds. Windows Key + Up = Maximize Windows Key + Down = Minimize Windows Key + Left = split and align with left hand side of the screen Windows Key + Right = split and align with right hand side of the screen Windows Key + Right + Right = Switching monitors (requires multiple monitors) and visa versa....you'll figure it out.

I'm using Windows 7 Home Premium and I'm looking for an RDP solution. I used an ancient version of Radmin on my XP install forever and I loved it. It was super easy to use. Apparently the newest version supports Windows 7, but it's $50. I'm wondering if there's something cheaper that's just as good. Here's what I want:

XP Home used to have it, in the form of "Remote Assistance" and it would let you log in as the current user, though the user at the console loses sight of their desktop during the process.

I am currently downloading Windows 7 Professional 64-bit off of MSDNAA (Its good to be an ICS major, sometimes), and I am currently running Vista Home Professional 64-bit. The OP says that I should be able to do an Upgrade, but I am seeing some conflicting reports online. Will I be able to do an upgrade install, or am I stuck with a clean install?
