MY FANTASYS.zip posted:I got a question, I'm planning on upgrading to Windows 7 soon, but I have two hard-drives on the computer that are nearly filled. Since it will be a clean install, the files will be moved to "OLD" folder. Does it move the files on the second hard-drive to that folder, or in general leaves them alone. I did this; it only moved files on the drive I installed 7 on. It left the other drive completely alone. Be sure you pick the right one when you're installing.

I read the OP and skimmed the thread, but just want to be absolutely sure on this. I have an Windows 7 Pro 64bit upgrade disc with me, but have a full version of 7 Pro being shipped to my house (I'm currently at University). Can I go ahead and use the upgrade disc and install it, skipped putting in a activation code (I want the use the full versions code, going to give the upgrade to someone) and then put in the full versions code in later to activate before the 30 or whatever days are up?

So I installed Win 7 64-bit on my system, and I've been really happy with it so far for the most part. I've got something odd going on, though. I have 3 SATA drives on my system - C, D, and E. D was empty since I cleaned up all my drives for the first time in 3 years, but now I'm getting some random files added to it automatically - several "locked" directories with random names like "330ff3e3293...", each with a couple of .vdm files, and a ton of eula.*.txt and install.*.dll files in the root of the drive. I assume these are from Windows Update. Is there an easy way to make it not use my D drive as a "hey let's throw random poo poo here" location? Like.. a proper system temp dir that gets cleaned via the Disk Cleanup tool?

The eula. and install. files Ive just been trashing. Whats the worst that could happen

For whoever suggested updating my gigabyte motherboard bios to fix some problem with ati card that was causing graphical corruption: I did that and it did not fix my weird mouse cursor issue. (Mouse cursor sometimes graphically corrupts when moving between monitors on a dual-screen setup. SFC says all files are good, no bad sectors, up to date video card drivers, all windows updates applied)

Getting used to the new taskbar. I think I really like it. I've pinned the Games Explorer to the taskbar. I was wondering if there is a way to pin it in such a way as to let me add my favorite games to the right click menu of the taskbar shortcut. Anyone have any ideas?

Its definition updates probably work like most Windows updates which also liberally create those folders and occasionally forget to clean up. To the guy asking about the drive they're created in, I'm pretty sure WU just uses the one with the most free space.

Anyone having any problems relating to iTunes refusing to start whatsoever? It's weird - sometimes it works, and I click on it and it starts to run. Other times, the taskbar shows that it's active, but then it shows that it's not active. If you look at the processes tab of the Task manager, it shows it's hanging around with about 10 MB of memory left. Any ideas?

It looks like I have to choose between having Line-In showing up in my Playback Volume Mixer and having it pass-through directly to my speakers without any latency problems, which is what I wanted in the first place.

I don't want to crap up this thread with tech support stuff, but have there been reports of graphical corruption issues with nvidia cards? I have a 7900GT and in win7 pro 32-bit as soon as the desktop loads the screen gets corrupted and flickers. Is this a common issue that has a head-slappingly easy solution? Further details here: http://forums.somethingawful.com/sh...hreadid=3224145

My 8600GT (32 bit RC) and 9600GT (64 bit Pro) both run fine with full settings on Windows 7, so I don't think it's an issue with 7 and Nvidia. Have you tried re-seating the graphics card on the motherboard? Windows 7 should find the correct graphics driver on its own for you. I haven't manually installed a single driver yet. After googling a bit, some people are recommending a BIOS update.
