David Baddiel & Frank Skinner did a podcast for the 2006 World Cup, also for The Guardian. It was and still is hilarious, and well worth a listen for decent humour/football chat as well some nice and not-so-nice nostalgia

All 15 podcasts are available here - http://www.baddielandskinner.com/podcast/previous.php :)

It was for the Times, but it is great.

I was more annoyed by the arrogant Arsenal fan from the other week. I mean we all got a laugh at him saying that Arsenal have the best squad in the league but usually the quality of guest is a bit higher than some moron shouting "THEO WALCOTT PLAYS" repeatedly with his only other input being a dull theory on a defender's psychology which essentially boiled down to playing good forwards to counter an opposition's good defence.

Yeah, that was ridiculous. The worst was his claim that Arsenal would win the league and that Wenger had made up injuries to rest them last season because they were still shook up over Eduardo breaking his leg. Shame he wasn't on yesterday.

Lack of Barry Glendenning and Sean Ingle is annoying.

The episode following international week was kind of dull. It was really horrible basic analysis. No fun in it either.

Is the live show this Sunday?

Ingle mentioned he's away for a while didn't he? As much as I like Barry Glendenning, he's not as good as he used to be. Shame Kevin McCarra hasn't been on too much this season. Paul Doyle too.

What was all the complaints about for Monday's football weekly? I listened to it at the time and didn't notice anything too unusual. The people who post on that seem like pathetic fanboys. It's a free podcast for gently caress's sake. Sorry if anyone here posts, I don't mean any offense, but it seems like everyone who posts just does so on the off chance that they'll get mentioned on the pod.

I did agree with him on the subject of diving though, in that I'd rather see players dive than doing Paul Scholes style tackles.

I posted this in the World Cup thread the other day, but Baddiel and Skinner are doing World Cup podcasts.

I think they're going to be daily during the tournament coming out at 6am so that people will have them for their commute to work. The ones they did for the Times last time were great.

Anyone know why there was no Soccernet podcast yesterday? Or was there one that just didn't download for me?

Anyone know what the story is with the Soccernet one this season? It used to be Monday/Thursday, same as Football Weekly, but the last two came out on Wednesday and there was only one per week. Is that what it's going to be all season? Perhaps they don't think there's need for two until the European leagues and CL proper come back. Wednesday's an odd day if it stays like that, as it's in the middle of the CL "gameday" or whatever the gently caress they call it.
