I AM AN AMERICAN CONSERVATIVE SHITHEEL

this morning I was awoken by my alarm clock powered by electricity generated by the public power monopoly regulated by the US department of energy.
I then took a shower in the clean water provided by the municipal water utility.
After that, I turned on the TV to one of the FCC regulated channels to see what the national weather service of the national oceanographic and atmospheric administration determined the weather was going to be like using satellites designed, built, and launched by the national aeronautics and space administration. I watched this while eating my breakfast of US department of agriculture inspected food and taking the drugs which have been determined as safe by the food and drug administration.

At the appropriate time as regulated by the US congress and kept accurate by the national institute of standards and technology and the US naval observatory, I get into my national highway traffic safety administration approved automobile and set out to work on the roads build by the local, state, and federal departments of transportation, possibly stopping to purchase additional fuel of a quality level determined by the environmental protection agency, using legal tender issed by the federal reserve bank. On the way out the door I deposit any mail I have to be sent out via the US postal service and drop the kids off at the public school.

After spending another day not being maimed or killed at work thanks to the workplace regulations imposed by the department of labor and the occupational safety and health administration, enjoying another two meals which again do not kill me because of the USDA, I drive my NHTSA car back home on the DOT roads, to ny house which has not burned down in my absence because of the state and local building codes and fire marshal's inspection, and which has not been plundered of all it's valuables thanks to the local police department.

I then log on to the internet which was developed by the defense advanced research projects administration and post on freerepublic.com and fox news forums about how SOCIALISM in medicine is BAD because the government can't do anything right

I'm pretty sure I missed a few. I wonder what kind of fun could fall out from cleaning it up a bit and tossing it at a few newspapers comments sections

I don't buy the discrimination argument. Simply put, straight people can't marry someone of the same sex, neither can gay people. Straight people can marry someone of the opposite sex, and so can gay people. So i really don't see this as in "equal rights issue."

Suppose "gay" marriage is legal, is it only for "gay" people to marry the same sex, or is it ok for hetero people to marry the same sex for financial, immigration, or other reasons? Suppose "gay marriage" is legal. If someone not "gay" is not allowed to marry someone of the same sex, isn't this in fact real discrimination? I.e., "gay" people would have the right to marry the same sex as well as the opposite sex while "straight" people can only marry the opposite sex. This to me would be de facto discrimination based soley on sexual orientation. Is the government going to form a "gay police" where before they issue a marriage license, you have to have gay sex in front of them to prove you are in fact gay?

In other words, "gay marriage" would need to be "same sex marriage" open to anyone, gay, straight, transgender, in order to not be dicriminatory by it's very nature. This opens a pandora's box that I think a lot of governments don't want to open. This along with religious objections is what's holding it back.

I personally don't give a poo poo who wants to marry whom, however I am generally against the soul sucking institution known as marriage. I'm certainly no homophobe as my past sexual history has encompassed both genders. I just think gay people should REJOICE that they aren't allowed to marry that way you don't have to listen to your "partner" badger, whine, and complain you into a lovely marriage. I personally hate being married and one day I will escape.

One last thing, rioting is not a good way to make a point and calling people morons because they don't share your beliefs isn't very tolerant. I've a hard time with the left anymore. It seems tolerance has been replaced by bigotry and facism when they don't get their way.

I dreamt I was an old dog, stuck in a honeypot. It was horrifying.

quote:

It looks like we can chalk up a victory for the good guys. Stocks soared this week, as Congress gave up trying to enact so-called health-care reform — and the massive new taxes to pay for it — until after their August recess. That means it’s dead.

Last week I wrote that if “it gets rejected, then stocks could move a lot higher once they see that it’s still possible for the government of this country to do the right thing every once in a while.” That’s just what has happened.

Let me remind you what’s a stake here. It’s even worse than I wrote about last week. I said that the “surcharge” tax to finance this government takeover of private medicine would raise the top income tax rate to 45%. That’s bad enough, but what I didn’t mention is that the “surcharge” would affect capital gains taxes, too. The rate on long-term capital gains is now 15%. If Obama’s plan is enacted, it would jump to 25.6%.

I can’t think of a surer way to destroy the stock market — what’s left of it — than to raise taxes on capital gains. Isn’t it already hard enough to make money in stocks?

So don’t be surprised that stocks have taken off on the good news that this particular piece of political madness has been consigned to the dustbin of history where it belongs.

It’s especially good news because there’s more and more evidence that the economy really is coming back to life. It would be a shame to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

Most important this week, earnings season is shaping up to be absolutely terrific. Forty percent of the companies that are going to report this season have now done so. On average, earnings have surprised on the upside by 11%. That makes this, at least so far, the best earnings season in more than two years — by a substantial margin.
