Question for anyone...friend has a Curve 8330 and the trackball housing broke, and his ball is gone. He's going to get a replacement in a few days, but we're wondering if theres any way to navigate without the trackball in the meantime? He has about 10 unread text messages, a bunch of messenger messages, etc. that he'd like to read. He's already tried throwing it against the wall, and that doesn't seem to work so we're open to ideas...

I had the same problem about a month ago with my pearl and was SOL except for SMS (which was what was highlighted prior to me breaking the trackball housing) and whatever the convenience keys were mapped to (contacts and camera). Unless he has keyboard shortcuts enabled, which doesn't sound like the case, he's probably going to have to wait until the replacement comes in.

8330 means it's either Sprint or Verizon. I'm not sure about Sprint, but I do know the verizon stores have spare trackballs that you can get for free. They won't have them at a mall kiosk but any store with technicians should be carrying extra trackball replacements.

Next time I try and clean my trackball and break it, I'll be sure and visit the Verizon store before buying a new one.

I am new to BB world. I switched from a Touch Pro to the Curve. I really like it so far, but there are a couple of features I do miss. Mainly it is Windows had a kick rear end alarm clock that let you set different times and days in a repeating format. Is there a program you can buy for BB like that? Also just googled the Sensobi beta and wow what a great idea. Any chance I could get one please? unleet@gmail.com Thank you so much.

Everyone posted:Sensobi I read the website, and I can't figure out what this does other than combine your call log with your contacts, which I'm not sure would be all that useful. Am I missing something? I have a Storm, and I need to know if I should be upset or not.

It seems you can also assign a rating to your contacts to make sure you keep in touch with people, like 2 stars meaning you should contact them every month, 1 meaning every week, and it alerts you if you haven't done so. I think. I haven't installed it yet.

Ok the Sensobi program is really sweet and it has already made its way to the home page and I hid my normal contacts icon. One problem I experience though is that I can't add a new contact after selecting that option. It just sits there doing nothing. Do I need to give it more time or are others experiencing this as well?

Has anyone tried to call 911 on their tour? I'm on verizon and for some reason after making a 911 call, the phone went into emergency call back mode and switched to GSM. Couldn't make any calls until it was switched back to evdo. Anyone had this happen to them?

So, I got a nice new Storm last week, and it's...OK. I do kind of wish Verizon had an iPhone though, instead of rumors of an iPhone. But really, this phone has got an undeserved bad rap from many people. I suspect most that have returned it, etc, just aren't that tech savvy...but I could be wrong. Once I installed a hybrid 5.0 OS it was smooth sailing. Any complaints about battery life are pretty loving spot on though.

The original software was a nightmare, but it has been much improved with the last couple of updates. Install quickpull and schedule a nightly reboot, and the problems drop significantly. I still hate it though. And really any touchscreen device, including the iPhone, as I don't think its a good enough input method to be the sole one. Storm 2 looks nice so far, seems like they sped up the processor, which the Storm 1 badly needed.

The only real advantage to the touch screen that I have noticed is screen real estate. And this is only important if you are really into watching videos on your phone, or for games that take advantage of it...which the storm sorely lacks it seems. Also, what is up with youtube sucking balls on the storm?

Can anyone recommend a good "to do list" type program? The default task list is OK, but I wish there were more/better icons for different level priorities. Also, TAGS. I would love a list where I could give items one or more tags. Does anything like this exist?

I'm also new to the BB Storm, just got it 2 days ago. It's my first touch screen phone, and it's really started to grow on me. The only thing I find irritating is the text messaging support, more specifically a lack of threaded, IM-style text messaging. WM 6 on my Blackjack 2 had all the texts grouped under each person I've texted, and I found that really convenient and organized. It's not a deal breaker or anything as I've gotten used to it by now, but it'd be nice. Also, I love the fact that the Storm's GPS is unlocked to third party software right out of the box. I got Google Maps working effortlessly, while it was a chore to unlock on the BJ2. shyduck fucked around with this message at Aug 19, 2009 around 16:07 |

I'm completely confused about Storm vs. Storm 2. I'm doing Google searches trying to figure out the Storm 2 release date and it looks like in May 2009 everyone said it will be coming out in June 2009. But after reading more, it looks like it's set for November 2009. Does anyone have any information regarding this? My "New Every Two" date (I'm with Verizon) is August 26 and I was originally pumped about getting a BB Storm. But if the newest one is going to come out in a few months, shouldn't I just wait? Any ideas on the price difference? Right now, with my $50 rebate on my old phone, the Storm should cost me about $50 total ($200 - $100 rebate - $50 trade in) I'm so confused.

Does your carrier have some sort of 30-day, See-If-You-Like-It plan? And this is what I'm trying to avoid. But I have no idea how long I'll have to wait or how much I'll have to pay for the new one.

I don't know if my contract would allow me to wait and get it with my plan, or if I would have to buy it at full price regardless. Plus, I would still need a phone in the meantime, and my data plan and so on would be wasted on my old phones. Maybe I need to stop by the store and talk to them about it, though I am sure I would be fed a bunch of poo poo.

Informal poll for you blackberry masters: If I were to take my Storm back and get a different blackberry, what should I get? Which one do you consider the "best"? Or should I just keep the Storm? I like it so far, I really do, but maybe I should get a more proven model and get the Storm 2 or whatever when I am due an upgrade.
