Sure I'll be trolled for this, but I honestly have no problem with parents not aborting disabled children if they look after it properly. What revolts me to my core are parents who abandon disabled children.

Also yay for pro eugenics goons

Agreed. I hate debating about this stuff, but I'm very anti-abortion. I just try to keep the peace and not say anything to avoid starting an argument. They never go anywhere anyway.

You know, I find it funny that it's always supposed to be "the liberals" who make fun of conservatives. I'm a relatively conservative person and an employee at a major conservative organization, and I find this thread hilarious.

Palin would have more friends if she stopped flaking out on appearances, frankly.

The names are Trig, Track, Bristol, Willow and Piper. The last three of these don't sound very weird. Both Willow and Piper show up in several name databases. You might also remember Willow from Buffy the vampire slayer, though that is hardly a source of normality.
Bristol is a city in Southwest England. The name comes from "Brycgstow", meaning "the place at the bridge" (blame wikipedia if that's wrong). I don't think using it as a name is that strange, when you consider that many people are named after cities. Some examples are the cities Chelsea (Clinton), Brooklyn (Beckham), Paris (Hilton), Preston (a lot of people) and Lincoln (Abe and Chafee).

Track and Trig are different.
I've never heard of anyone called Track, and I can't find it in any of the 2-3 baby-name lists I've checked.

Trig is, according to this site, "a Norse word meaning 'true' and 'brave victory'".
A lot of Norwegian names come from old Norse names and words, and that explanation just sounds wrong to me.
I'm norwegian. We know this poo poo :smug:

Anyway, I checked and the closest real name I can find is "Trygve". This name comes from the norse word "tryggr", which means reliable or safe.
Trig, however, is not in the Norse dictionary. In fact, there's mostly variations of "tryggr", and there is nothing that even comes close to the supposed meaning of Trig.

The correct Norse word for victory is "sigr". Truth is "sannindi" and honesty is "ærligr".
So...yeah, it looks like the Palins hosed up there, and little Trig's name doesn't really mean anything, at least in Norse.
Of course, if anyone has evidence to the contrary, please let me know. Especially if you're Icelandic.

She names them after locations in Alaska. Bristol Bay I know for sure, I think Willow's a podunk town out here, Trig and Track have to be short for something here too I bet.

Edit: Upon closer inspection, it's Trig PAXSON Palin. So that one guy is right about the norse stuff, but Paxson's a town here. And Track was her favorite sport. Whoops.
