I have a non-authentic Multicam chest rig that does the trick. Unfortunately I got it long ago and don't know where it came from.

I'll see if I can check for any tags or other info when I get home, but speaking as someone who made the switch, it is VERY worth it to get an M4 magwell adapter for any/all G36s you run with. It's easier to work with M4 rigs and gear, it's cheaper to buy extra mags, etc. Trust me on this one. It's worth the lack of authenticity.

I always liked the G36 mags more, but the clips always break on the sides... and they are drat BIG. Keep in mind that some of the adapters result in wobbly magazines that can be bumped out without some modification, but it is nice to swap magazines with most team mates.

Anybody own any SCAR-Ls around here? Might make a nice alternative to an m4/m16 for my next gun, (while having loads of parts available)

I've heard of G&G, ARES/Star, CA and VFC. The ARES is the cheapest I can find at £300 so if anybody has anything to say about that then awesome!

Also, are airsoft SCAR-Ls fully compatible with m4/m16 drum mags and what have you? I know HK416s aren't and I recently discovered KWA M4s need their own mags too.

I own a VFC SCAR-L. It is a very nice rifle on the outside. It's probably the most accurate replica. Even it's disassembly is similar to the real one. However, most of the stock internals were crap, so I had to replace many of them.

I wouldn't recommend a VFC if you're looking for an awesome rifle out of the box. It is basically a glorified Metal Body Kit. You have to be willing to put some work into it.

Why did I buy a VFC? I thought it was cool, and it's pretty sexy on the field especially with the right loadout. I just didn't expect it to be such a big project. I have learned my lesson.

After the upgrades, mine has become pretty awesome (AG303 could testify to this). Even after all that work, I went right back to using a stock CA M4 PMC (M4s always work).

If you want a great stock SCAR, go with the CA. Or even the Echo 1 there is a guy on my team who has one and he loves it.

As far as magazines, I just use those cheap MAG M4 magazines on both and they work just fine. I am not sure about drum mags.

This is the general concensus on VFC guns, they are incredibly nice/solid kits, but the internals are really really bad. I was gonna buy a 416 from them, but didn't want a project gun, so i got the SCAR.

Oh, and if you get a SCAR alginge, get one with the large battery stock. I barely fit a 10.8 1200mah battery in the small one, but with the large stock you got loads of room.

I am very much not after a project gun, I still haven't even opened a gearbox yet! So if I'm planning on dropping £300+ for the first time I want something that'll blow my pants off with awesome.

KWA M16's are LEGIT(AG303 can testify to this also)! I own one. They're Lipo ready, and they sound awesome when they shoot. I always feel bad for the person I'm shooting at. GREAT Stock gun

The best gun out of box I have ever had has been my CA M15A4 PMC. I haven't had to change anything on it. It lasted an entire 3-day match, a rain match, and I slammed it in to a door frame. Never fails.

Everyone is going to say x gun is made of cheese, but had good experiences with y. Lots of rumors are abound, and companies change quality over the years. This said, some of the poo poo I have owned that has rocked hard stock for a long time:

-If you can afford it, anything made by Real Sword
-CA G36/CA8 series. Never get a G36 that is not a CA because the other bodies are terrible plastic poo poo that snaps. However, the carry handles with scope are total jokes so you will need to swap those for a rail and optics or the real thing.

Which I got! drat, won't be able to afford this for a while but I never thought I'd come to a decision so quick. AR10's looking pretty drat likely for that price! Thanks again gewns.

"Best" is of course a subjective term. I'm a cheap little slut for Tokyo Marui. They're harder to find in the US, and they're limited by Japanese law to about 280fps muzzle velocity, but they generally have excellent hop-up units and they're reliable as hell. A stock TM is typically good for years of play with no maintenance whatsoever.

No gun is good for years without maintenance. TM's are reliable shooters out of the box, but any lube it has will dry up and not maintaining ANY gun will unnecessarily add stress to the gearbox.

Asking price: $350 shipped to CONUS, that's a goon special price. Shipping is on me, either USPS Parcel Post with insurance or UPS Ground, also with insurance.

It's a STAR SL9, supercustomized externally. Internally, the original hopup and bucking were replaced in March '09, a Madbull 509mm tightbore was installed in October '09, and a new trigger system, switch, and wiring were just installed last month.

Externally, I added the G36K RIS, 10" barrel extension, suppressor, and foregrip. The side bipods are missing, they broke off during a game.

I put a lot into it, but I don't see it as an investment since a lot of it was replacement parts - I haven't had the chance to put in mechbox based performance parts yet.

Pics:

I can take more on request.

The best place to play around here has some strict rules, one site is 300 or below, so TM is such a great option. Only downside is that none of the proshops around here carry much of anything for Marui SOPMOD in the way of Magazines. Its all cheaper companies on the walls, I guess that's what the tweens buy. Oh this.

I remember when there were like 3 companies and everyone praised TM. Hell, it was big deal with the first P90 and G36 came out. Then CA became the best brand out of about 5 while all the TM fan boys waded in their own tears. Now it's all about the Chinese clones, and with tons of companies, there are some other high end quality products. Personally, TM is really overpriced for what you get (if you know how to work on airsoft guns). Likewise, if you don't know how to work on airsoft guns, some of the clones are terrible investments.
