I forgot to post this on here. I got to see Vanna at Warped Tour and I would consider myself a huge fan of theirs, but I'm not a big fan of Davey's vocals on the new album, there is just something about them that bothers me, maybe it's the raspiness of them. The songs they played off their new cd (Digging, Void, Piss up a Rope) sounded 100 times better live, so I wonder what happened during the productions of the vocals on their new album.

Aside from ETID and the upcoming Acacia Strain tape this is the only record I am pumped on this year tbh: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mPB53z5AAmQ Boy if you enjoy rowdy mosh cuts about fighting the power, overcoming adversity, standing strong and protecting your family, have I got the album for you, brother! gently caress I am such a mark for Obey the Brave. I love everything about them. Alex Erian rules, and their music is the best gym poo poo out there to me.

So I never really listened to I Killed the Prom Queen i guess because of their silly name and kinda wrote them off as some sort of 2009 trance-core wannabe in the name of Attack Attack or some poo poo. I stumbled upon one of their songs of their album that came out this year and discovered that they are absolutely nothing like the image I had in my head. They're pretty much just 2004 style atthegatescore, which is what I like the most anyway. I'm really digging it.

Been an IKTPQ fan since 2008, all of their poo poo dominates. Somehow they've had 3 lead singers and continue to put out quality. Jona is the heart and soul of that group and it was good to hear they were coming back after his stint in BMTH. "Your shirt would look better with a Columbian Necktie" is one of the heaviest songs ever. http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=N0tLGHz_W1g

I'm hoping someone can help me. I vaguely remember a music video that starts with the famous "Goldman Sachs rules the world" BBC interview and then I'm almost certain they are playing a live band set up in a kitchen. Don't remember much more than that other than it was probably released within the last 2 years and it might not even be good. Thanks

:-/ While the breakdown is a vulgar display of awesome, both Cauterizer and Nail Gun seem to suffer from a noticeable lack of groove. The lyrics have been so samey and predictable post-Continent. "Writing good lyrics Is really hard So instead I rhyme every loving Word BLECH" STOP THE GODDAMN RHYMES Maybe the album as a whole will be good. But these guys are breaking my heart. Their music hadn't been fun in a while.

I definitely agree that the forced rhyming is an issue in Vincent's lyrics since Wormwood. Sometimes it's not so bad, sometimes it's comically bad. My friend says he's trying to invoke Dr Seuss. As for them not being "fun" I guess I would have to agree that in the past few albums they've gone for a more ominous, evil type approach. I don't mind it so much because I find that in and of itself to be fun. And I see them live at least once or twice a year and no matter what songs they play it's always a blast. Can't wait for the new album to leak.

New All That Remains album is out in January, if anyone cares about that I think this is probably the last shot I give them before I write them off forever. Everything up to their last album was good, but holy poo poo did their last one suck a bag of dicks and judging by some of Phil's more recent comments I don't think the direction of the band is gonna change so more of the same I guess?

I bailed on ATR years ago, they suck Nailgun is growing on me quickly, I should know better by now than to post about new TAS before I've had some time to get into it. Nailgun is a lot better than Cauterizer. Looking forward to the whole tape coming out. Honestly the breakdown in Nailgun is probably top 5 heaviest TAS breakdowns of all time, it's ridiculously crushing

Wamsutta posted:I'm sure I will rock fully out to the record, I just miss the groovy element and would love some creativity back in the lyrics. All TAS is good TAS. I actually like the lyrics better now. "too much rhyming" is the kind of thing that, to me, is only bad if it doesn't sound good. Usually when I listen to a new song from them I keep going "YUUUUUuuuuu" in amazement at the badass lyrics that also happen to rhyme. Kind of like with early Impaled tapes! I'm okay with the lyrics being less jokey. I feel like ya boy right here Vincent's sense of humor has gotten progressively darker over the years to the point that his lyrics are now funny strictly because they're so over-the-top negative and hateful. That "Nailgun" song is a good example of it. It's not really funny, but the over-the-top manner in which he roasts this hypothetical disgusting female is so wild that it's bordering on tongue in cheek. Like the lyrics in "Mouth of the River" or the part in "Go to Sleep" where he says "life is a nightmare, death is a gift,, I'll see you all at the fountain of youth,,,,," it's just so extreme. I dunno, for me it never stopped being fun because it was like the humor never went away, it just kept getting more and more subtle. Like, how is this funny? this is disturbing! But you know he doesn't really mean it. *drinks more 14% barrel aged beer*

Dark depressing lyrics are cool and all. The fact that Vincent is channeling some serious I hate the loving whole world type poo poo is cool. But I mean honestly... some of it sounds a little uninspired. And this is coming from a pretty diehard fan. I dig that someone can be so unapologetically into it so that's rad and all but yeah.

A good friend of mine is fronting a new band with a really diverse style. Heavy in the vein of Meshuggah, Candiria, Fear Factory (kinda) with some melody and clean vocals thrown in. The drummer used to be in Through the Eyes of the Dead. Really awesome stuff that I can't even begin to do justice to by trying to describe it. I'd appreciate it if you guys checked it out. I think it's great. https://soundcloud.com/circuitofsuns/circuit-of-suns-blood-red-shift-feat-michael-dafferner-from-carbomb
