Has anyone seen this?

The symbolism surrounding Lady Gaga is so blatant that one might wonder if it’s all a sick joke. Illuminati symbolism is becoming so clear that analyses like this one becomes a simple exercise of pointing out the obvious. Her whole persona (whether its an act or not) is a tribute to mind control, where being vacuous, incoherent and absent minded becomes a fashionable thing.

While I agree with Vigilant Citizen's article's point that Lady Gaga's "symbolism is deep, esoteric, and even spiritual", I don't agree with the conclusions that she's a pawn of the Illuminati.

I mean, come on, that's just silly.

Her performance of Paparazzi at the MTV music awards was the highlight (other than Kanye's hilarious antics) of what has to be the most completely off-focus awards ceremony I've ever seen

not that big a deal, she's doing a solo tour instead, starting in November

I'm actually kind of glad that she decided to just work on her own stuff, but it would have been pretty amazing to see what the two of them working together could've produced

as a side note, I can totally understand why they had to cancel it for lack of sales - the tickets tended towards overly expensive, and some of the venues they picked seemed completely arbitrary and borderline retarded

Considering she's the latest diva darling of the gay community and pretty much fits that whole image like a glove, it's not much of a stretch.

I am not joking, I have. It was 10 minutes away, the ticket was 25 dollars, and I found out afterwards that I could have scalped it for the going rate of 400 dollars. :psyduck: But I completely don't regret going.

I thought the gyroscope outfit was probably the funniest part of the entire episode for me. The fact that they didn't check to see if it cleared her head meant that it kept hitting her in the face and when she walked over and sat down at the piano with it still on I nearly lost it.

I heard she designs all her own crazy outfits? Either way it was hilarious.

I consider liking Lady Gaga to be something of a litmus test among my friends now. I am almost never into stuff that exists purely out of irony, but Lady Gaga is too perfect an expression of IRL trolling for me not to love her. Watching that video of her with her old band only cements that she's completely remade her personal image in the last three years to be this perfect veneer of extreme pop insanity. That allows her to go crazy places with her music and performance, but she's not (yet) actually that nuts behind the outfits, so she can carefully craft her crazy to remain appealing and new.

In conclusion,

EDIT: Oh, I forgot to mention how admirably she's milking the mystery penis for all it's worth. It takes a lot to get over a self-esteem killer like that and then turn around and make money off of the publicity.

I had a real hate-on for Gaga when she started getting really popular - I kind of considered her a freakshow like RuPaul. I ended up catching her on SNL last weekend and the second performance with her on the piano doing a medeley of her songs live was pretty impressive. I figure a pop star that can actually play an instrument and can sing live puts her a cut above just about every other pop singer on the market. That she has this odd, haute couture persona and real talent is pretty cool.

Its really sad that in an industry reliant on musical instruments, it's surprising and redeeming to find someone who can actually play one. What has pop music become :(

Keep up with me now.
I think Lady Gaga's music is pretty catchy, so that probably colors my perception of her, but I think that by and large she's dismissed as another Britney Spears/Jessica Simpson clone, recording music written by other people and then "performing" it but lip syncing the entire thing. She writes her own stuff, has been working at it for years, controls her stage shows and production, and is, I think most importantly, a genuinely talented performer. It only takes one video of her acoustic performances to know that she's got pipes and can play, and the fact that she never, ever lip syncs, with the amount and intensity of her choreography during performances, has always impressed me greatly.

So, I think she's an amazing performer, and I think that can be appreciated even if you don't care for her music. More importantly, though, I just love how absolutely batshit she appears to be. Is it legitimate? Based on her back story and media presence thus far, maybe. But even if it isn't, anyone who decides that they will stick to that persona, day in and day out, without slipping up, has to be a little crazy anyway. I don't think there's really any deep meaning or groundbreaking ideas in her music, at all, but she still has a fresh take on a genre that doesn't really ask for much, and she looks like she's having a hell of a good time. She wrote an album called The Fame when she was a nobody, and went ahead and made it - it's a lot of things, but come on, just watch and see which stage she bleeds out on next.

That thought process has been rattling around in my head for a while, and now that it's out it's kind of embarrassing. At any rate, she did a lot of stumping for the National Equality March that was this last weekend in DC, and she's not the most articulate of speakers, but I do admire that she's willing to make a stand for a cause - she's a barely established pop artist. Speech below, worth it just for the image of Lady Gaga on CSPAN. At first they just give her name alone, and then at the end it's subtitled "Recording Artist" - I don't think they knew what the hell she was.
