Yeah, that's the part where I was being way more polite than I felt was appropriate because my friend, who'd accused me of ignorance, clearly had no understanding of the concept of the social contract or of any political philosophy.

But yeah, that really does represent the best of the arguments being produced by the right-wing. My friend works in our nation's capitol for a non-profit that specializes in training conservative political operatives. His mindset is what is being taught to hundreds of people who will work in the political arena and on the staffs of major policy makers.

That is frightening to me.

Nope, it's real. I have to give props to the guy who sent it to me though. I sent him a polite reply telling him that the e-mail was full of poo poo and then linked him to the bill. Next time I saw him, he thanked me and said that even though he disagrees with UCH, he's not a fan of the propaganda coming from the right and didn't like how dishonest the e-mail was. I think he was a little taken aback about how many of those bullet points weren't even just misleading misinterpretations but straight up lies with no basis anywhere in the bill.

Of course, his mother then told me that Oregon has socialized medicine and that they're literally letting dumpsters of sick babies die by the hour because the system is out of money and that if the fed was in control of health care, anyone not in the physical shape of an Olympiad would be thrown to a pack of wolves while Obama cackled maniacally.

That's taken from a website that 1000 right-wing blogs copied in order to create the illusion of truth (argumentum ad populum). I've debunked this nonsense several times myself.

Nothing like comparing the actual text of the bill with what these clowns claim is says - since they would never bother doing that themselves. Good work.

You don't turn a company around to future profitability simply by paying off all its debts, and you don't turn an economy around that way, either. You can turn your personal, consumer finances around that way, but that's because personal finance doesn't produce anything. Turning all of your efforts toward paying down debt is called bankruptcy.

Also, nearly all of the "foreign" cars above are produced in the US by American workers. Interestingly, the Cash for Clunkers program has been a great success in terms of Keynesian deficit stimulus. The government pays to incentivize those who otherwise would have waited to buy a new car, new cars are sold, people remain employed.

Author and lecturer Nonie Darwish says the goal of radical Islamists is to impose Shariah law on the world, ripping Western law and liberty in two.

She recently authored the book, Cruel and Usual Punishment: The Terrifying Global Implications of Islamic Law.

Darwish was born in Cairo and spent her childhood in Egypt and Gaza before emigrating to America in 1978, When she was eight years old, her father died while leading covert attacks on Israel He was a high- ranking Egyptian military officer stationed with his family in Gaza.

When he died, he was considered a "shahid," a martyr for jihad. His posthumous status earned Nonie and her family an elevated position in Muslim society.

But Darwish developed a skeptical eye at an early age. She questioned her own Muslim culture and upbringing. She converted to Christianity after hearing a Christian preacher on television.

In her latest book, Darwish warns about creeping sharia law - what it is, what it means, and how it is manifested in Islamic countries.

For the West, she says radical Islamists are working to impose sharia on the world. If that happens, Western civilization will be destroyed.

In twenty years there will be enough Muslim voters in the U.S. to elect the President! I think everyone in the U.S. should be required to read this, but with the ACLU, there is no way this will be widely publicized, unless each of us sends it on!

Christ, I almost wish I could just emptyquote this. The number of myths and lies in there are mind-boggling, including the number of interesting revisions of history that Nonie Darwish has propagated about her own life. No worries about the ACLU speaking against Darwish, though - they've been on the record protecting hate groups before.

ever-higher taxes, raised their prices and laid off workers. Others
simply gave up and went out of business and the economy sank like unto

The bank banking industry was destroyed. Manufacturing slowed to a
crawl. And more of the people were without a means of support..

Then "The One" said, "I am the "the One"- The Messiah - and I'm here
to save you! We shall just print more money so everyone will have
enough!" But our foreign trading partners said unto Him. "Wait a
minute. Your dollar is not worth a pile of camel dung! You will have
to pay more..." And the world said, "Wait a minute. That is
unfair!!" And the world said, "Neither are these other idiotic
programs you have embraced. Lo, you have become a Socialist state and
a second-rate power. Now you shall play by our rules!"

And the people cried out, "Alas, alas!! What have we done?" But yea
verily, it was too late. The people set upon The One and spat upon
him and stoned him, and his name was dung. And the once mighty nation
was no more; and the once proud people were without sustenance or
shelter or hope. And the Change "The One" had given them was as like
unto a poison that had destroyed then and like a whirlwind that
consumed all that they had built.

And the people beat their chests in despair and cried out in anguish,
"give us back our nation and our pride and our hope!!" But it was too
late, and their homeland was no more.

You may think this a fairy tale, but it's not.
