[David B. Barrett, Todd M. Johnson,World Christian Trends AD 30-AD 2200]. I'd be willing to bet most of these deaths were not done in the name of Islam. So you can pretty much lump in most european wars for death toll of Christians.

There are a lot of right wing forwards on this thread, but has anybody gotten a pro-Trump e-mail forward yet? I'm curious if anyone likes him.

Just reading Vonnegut's entry on politics on Wikipedia seems to give a lot of proof that this is satire.

When I was 14 I identified as a libertarian. At the time I never really paid much attention to the economic aspects, it was more the gay marriage, abortion, and drugs aspect. Honestly, if it wasn't for somethingawful, I would probably still be a libertarian.

All it took for me to turn from a libertarian into a socialist was a thread here in D&D that laid out quite simply the traditional Marxist critique of capitalism. I remember reading the post (I think it was either by Zeitgeist or ReindeerF), starting to write a rebuttal and then just sitting there for a minute and going, "holy poo poo they're right". It was quite a distinct epiphany for me.

So remember that comrades when you're posting. Even if the thread ends up turning to poo poo because of people who can't admit that they're wrong, there might be someone out there reading your posts with an open mind that you can change. :unsmith:

Can somebody post a link to this? I'm not criticising you or anything, I'm honestly interested in reading this.

After he responds I was going to post this link [this]. Does anybody have any more credible-looking websites? Not saying that it's wrong but the more famous and reputable the site the better.

EDIT: He said this.

Add to that 'liberal left.' I don't know exactly why, but that particular combination of words grates my ears just like when I hear someone talk about the 'democrat party.'

Also, if anyone uses the phrase 'class warfare,' you can almost immediately know bullshit is going to follow.

Not if those words are followed by somebody molotoving something.

I'll add on to this with Dulce et Decorum Est by Wilfred Owens:

quote:

Bent double, like old beggars under sacks,
Knock-kneed, coughing like hags, we cursed through sludge,
Till on the haunting flares we turned our backs
And towards our distant rest began to trudge.
Men marched asleep. Many had lost their boots,
But limped on, blood-shod. All went lame; all blind;
Drunk with fatigue; deaf even to the hoots
Of tired, outstripped Five-Nines that dropped behind.
Gas! GAS! Quick, boys! – An ecstasy of fumbling,
Fitting the clumsy helmets just in time;
But someone still was yelling out and stumbling
And flound'ring like a man in fire or lime . . .
Dim through the misty panes and thick green light,
As under a green sea, I saw him drowning.
In all my dreams before my helpless sight,
He plunges at me, guttering, choking, drowning.
If in some smothering dreams, you too could pace
Behind the wagon that we flung him in,
And watch the white eyes writhing in his face,
His hanging face, like a devil's sick of sin;
If you could hear, at every jolt, the blood
Come gargling from the froth-corrupted lungs,
Obscene as cancer, bitter as the cud
Of vile, incurable sores on innocent tongues, –
My friend, you would not tell with such high zest
To children ardent for some desperate glory,
The old Lie: Dulce et decorum est
Pro patria mori.

That entire "Welfare is Like Animal Handouts" popped up on my Mom's FB a couple days ago. I made a few snarky comments about it, she replied by saying how people on Food Stamps have no incentive to find work, etc, etc. It was going back and forth with other family members jumping in (all on her side.) Finally my 20 year old niece, who was pretty much raised by my mom, ended things when she said, "Hey! I am on food stamps."

Where I live, people on Food Stamps have to work 20 hours a week for them. It's loving horrid.

For California, you have to be in "acceptable training programs for 20 hours a week, or participating in workfare for the required number of hours", I'd imagine it's similar here in Georgia. After my friend turned 19, he was cut off from food stamps benefits. If you don't have transportation, you're hosed. His family can't afford to put him on their car insurance, so he cannot drive.

It's funny how much Republicans hate rappers given that all the big names are the embodiment of entrepreneurism and work ethic. I'm not saying the amount of money they accumulate is really justifiable, but somebody like Birdman works all the time to get his money.
