In the late 1970's, a billed was passed that made it illegal for banks to deny loans based on the address of who they were loaning the money to. This was to prevent banks from denying loans to applicants purely based on the fact that they lived in a poor black neighborhood.

This legislation was overall meaningless because it didn't really have any teeth to it. Banks can always find reasons to deny giving out a load. It did NOT in any way force any banks to issue any loans. It was intended to try and reduce discrimination.

How this piece of legislation could have caused a financial crisis 40 years later is anyones guess. (It didn't.)

Edit: It was called The Community Reinvestment Act (CRA).

I don't know if you can call HMDA toothless.

Outside of the increase in the cigarette tax and the AIG bonus taxes, has taxes even changed at all in the last 8 months? I don't see how a single thing that grumpy Gramps brings up has anything to do with Obama other than that Ashely campaigned for him and then decided to shove it in her relatives' faces that he won.

That's the underlying message right there. If you want gramps to help, you have to beleive what he believes, even if he is a bit racist and senile.

Grandpa probably has his money tied up with some Nigerians that hooked him up with a tax haven in response to Obama winning the election. He could get the money back, but it would cost an upfront fee that he dosen't have right now.

I am not a write-in candidate for President. The statement purportedly from me stating that I am a candidate is a hoax. The platform attributed to me (and at various times to Robin Williams, Andy Rooney and George Carlin) does not represent my views and in many respects is abhorrent to me. Apparently those bloggers and websites who continue to spread this hoax do not care to do even minimal fact checking.

Todays phonecall with boss ended with him bitching about how niggers can't use vacuum cleaners without breaking them. I had sort of zoned out into "uh-huh. Hmm. uh-huh" mode and it took me a little while to process that and the best my brain could do was giggle like an idiot and say 'What?'.

Apparantly black people use vacuums till the bag fills up, throw the bag out then keep using the vacuum till it breaks. I'm not sure if he knows this first hand or not as my brain was stuck going "What? WHAT?" and he had segued into niggers being too dumb to realize they are voting against their own best interests by voting democrat. I think he sort of realized he was drifting into old crazy loving racist land as he stopped himself and said something about not getting himself worked up before the weekend.

I don't know how much longer I can stop myself from snapping and screaming at him.

Get him to email his views to you and you can never ever be fired.

I think we’re being, we’re concerned about individual liberties and rights, and that’s what the Constitution protects, or at least should protect.”

HAHAHAHA, what the gently caress? When has Orrin Hatch EVER given a flying gently caress about personal liberties and rights?

But critics call Obama’s outstretched hand a miscalculation. Cheney said: "There is no reason for an American president to bow to anyone. Our friends and allies don't expect it, and our enemies see it as a sign of weakness.""

Yeah, I can just see the logic of some country deciding to gently caress with the US because the president bowed to another countries leader. Are people this loving retarded?

Yeah, the US has the largest military force in the world as well as nukes with a historical precedent for using them....but the US is surely a paper tiger because the president bowed to a leader of a country.

I think that's a fair assumption. The higher ups of any organization usually do not believe that same dogma as the underlings. At that point it becomes about power.
