This is an original from my dad after I responded to a forward he sent me with one sentence that suggested that Fox News might have a slight bias much like the "state run media" he was villifying.

This isn’t about Republican or Democrat. My government, your government is being highjacked by a group that has infiltrated the Democratic party over many, many years and is finally now in power. This isn’t something that just happened. There are bad people on both sides but ask yourself this: Would you be upset if Right-Wing militia and other far right organizations (say, Timothy McVay) were shaping the nation with their views and trampling on a Constitution that has created the absolute best (not perfect) country on the globe?
Well, that is what is going on, right now, with your country. Have your heard of Bill Ayers, The Weatherman Underground, The Black Panthers….etc. This President is surrounding himself with these kind unelected, un-vetted folks and those left in the Congress that are not part of this coalition of thieves, Communists, and criminals are afraid to question (or read) any legislation before voting on it. You have to ask yourself: Does it matter to you that your elected officials-the ones that are supposed to working for you (not the other way around), are passing legislation that has, or shortly will, drain the Treasury. Furthermore, organizations outside the government and socialist by nature are contributing to the writing of these bills. No one voted for that!!
Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh, Mark Lavin and others have frequently criticized the Bush 1 and Bush 2 administrations during the time those administrations were in power and at the same time the opposition would hang the president in effigy and dress a manikin of him in a Nazi uniform. Glenn Beck has even called for George W. Bush’s impeachment at the time during his term. But none of this matters now. Whatever seeds have been sown in the past have now become adult and the country is spiraling to disaster. You need to go to GlennBeck.com and read the questions that he has asked this week and will continue to ask…interesting thing is…The White House isn’t giving any answers or denying any of the facts presented there. Nothing.
I have been a citizen of this country a lot longer than you have and have participated in the process a lot longer too and I tell you I have never seen such a blatant and arrogant systematic dismantling of our Constitution. You will not see anyone in the “State Run Media” dare to ask these question and research the facts that the White House doesn’t want to hear. That is why Fox Ratings are going up and up and up and the President has appointed yet another unqualified radical (Mark “Marxist” Lloyd) to be yet another of dozens of “Czars” with the goal of shutting down any opposition to this “Government Takeover”. I nor my parents nor my grandparents have ever seen this before.
Any way you want to spin it, the economy is getting worse. The fact that so many, including you, can’t find a job should help illustrate this. I got my first big job in a recession. Simple logic should dictate that you cannot spend your way out of a recession. Did you know that the majority of “Cash for Clunkers” money is going to Toyota, Honda and Huyundi dealers, not Ford, GM or Chrysler. More jobs lost.
But, it doesn’t do much good to pick points here and there. You will never see the big picture. You have to look at everything which is a monumental task for anyone. Thank god for organizations like Fox News and the hundreds of conservative radio programs to do this research for us. Obama and his thugs and their policies are losing popularity daily as more and more Americans come out of the slumber they have been lulled into by government in recent years. You can thank us later.

Which ones did you mean? Was it the notion of personal liberty that 11,000 farmers and shopkeepers died for to win independence from the British? Or maybe the ideal that no man should be a slave to another man, that 500,000 men died for in the Civil War? I hope you didn't mean the ideal 470,000 fathers, brothers, husbands, and a lot of fellas I knew personally died for in WWII, because we felt real strongly about not letting any nation push us around, because we stand for freedom.
I don't think you mean the ideal that says equality is better than discrimination. You know the one that a whole lot of white people understood when they helped to get you elected.
Take a little advice from a very old geezer, young man.
Shape up and start acting like an American. If you don't, I'll do what I can to see you get shipped out of that fancy rental on Pennsylvania Avenue. You were elected to lead not to bow, apologize and kiss the hands of murderers and corrupt leaders who still treat their people like slaves.
And just who do you think you are telling the American people not to jump to conclusions and condemn that Muslim major who killed 13 of his fellow soldiers and wounded dozens more. You mean you don't want us to do what you did when that white cop used force to subdue that black college professor in Massachusetts, who was putting up a fight? You don't mind offending the police calling them stupid but you don't want us to offend Muslim fanatics by calling them what they are, terrorists.
One more thing. I realize you never served in the military and never had to defend your country with your life, but you're the Commander-in-Chief now, son. Do your job. When your battle-hardened field General asks you for 40,000 more troops to complete the mission, give them to him. But if you're not in this fight to win, then get out. The life of one American soldier is not worth the best political strategy you're thinking of.
You could be our greatest president because you face the greatest challenge ever presented to any president. You're not going to restore American greatness by bringing back our bloated economy. That's not our greatest threat. Losing the heart and soul of who we are as Americans is our big fight now. And I sure as hell don't want to think my president is the enemy in this final battle.

Not a forward, but I just spent three hours in the car with my dad. We got into the topic of politics, and he couldn't stop spouting Beck talking points long enough to address anything I said.
A few choice nuggets:
- Bill Ayers and Van Jones are currently active in our government.
- One of the many ways (and the only example he could provide, even though he has a "list of them") Obama is violating the Constitution is by not securing the southern border. This is tantamount to treason as well.
- Communism = socialism
- Woodrow Wilson had many people killed for disagreeing with him.
- The minute FDR died the US instituted term limits because they thought he was such a lovely president.
- Gas prices are being kept artificially low by the president. This was in response to me saying that I'm still waiting on the $7/gallon gas he predicted for this summer in a previous email. I asked how the president can suppress gas prices, and his response was asking me how the government can take over GM.
- 70-90% (I forget which he claimed) of all companies in the US are government controlled.
- The US was founded as a Christian nation and history that is being taught to today's children is being rewritten to change this.
I just sent him the Treaty of Tripoli as a counterpoint to the last item, although he said he won't trust anything but the "actual document". The link I sent has a scan of the actual document, so I don't know if that will be enough proof.
I'll probably get a four paragraph response with no citations in response to my email, but I'll be sure to share it when I get it.
During the trip I also announced my upcoming engagement, to which he only replied, "Why are you doing that?" and stayed silent the rest of the way.

For those of you scratching your head saying, “What”, I think Mr. Schrock is suggesting you may not be able to afford to run your air conditioner!
In just six months, on January 1, 2011, the largest tax hikes in the history of America will take effect.
They will hit families and small businesses in three great waves. On January 1, 2011, here’s what happens... (read it to the end, so you see all three waves)...
First Wave:
Expiration of 2001 and 2003 Tax Relief
In 2001 and 2003, the GOP Congress enacted several tax cuts for investors, small business owners, and families. These will all expire on January 1, 2011.
Personal income tax rates will rise.
The top income tax rate will rise from 35 to 39.6 percent (this is also the rate at which two-thirds of small business profits are taxed). The lowest rate will rise from 10 to 15 percent. All the rates in between will also rise. Itemized deductions and personal exemptions will again phase out, which has the same mathematical effect as highermarginal tax rates.
The full list of marginal rate hikes is below:
The 10% bracket rises to an expanded 15%
The 25% bracket rises to 28%
The 28% bracket rises to 31%
The 33% bracket rises to 36%
The 35% bracket rises to 39.6%
Higher taxes on marriage and family.
The "marriage penalty" (narrower tax brackets for married couples) will return from the first dollar of income.
The child tax credit will be cut in half from $1000 to $500 per child.
The standard deduction will no longer be doubled for married couples relative to the single level.
The dependent care and adoption tax credits will be cut.
The return of the Death Tax.
This year only, there is no death tax. (It’s a quirk!) For those dying on or after January 1, 2011, there is a 55 percent top death tax rate on estates over $1 million. A person leaving behind two homes, a business, a retirement account, could easily pass along a death tax bill to their loved ones. Think of the farmers who don’t make much money, but their land, which they purchased years ago with after-tax dollars, is now worth a lot of money. Their children will have to sell the farm, which may be their livelihood, just to pay the estate tax if they don’t have the cash sitting around to pay the tax. Think about your own family’s assets. Maybe your family owns real estate, or a business that doesn’t make much money, but the building and equipment are worth $1 million. Upon their death, you can inherit the $1 million business tax free, but if they own a home, stock, cash worth $500K on top of the $1 million business, then you will owe the government $275,000 cash! That’s 55% of the value of the assets over $1 million! Do you have that kind of cash sitting around waiting to pay the estate tax?
Higher tax rates on savers and investors.
The capital gains tax will rise from 15 percent this year to 20 percent in 2011. The dividends tax will rise from 15 percent this year to 39.6 percent in 2011.
These rates will rise another 3.8 percent in 2013.
Second Wave:
Obamacare
There are over twenty new or higher taxes in Obamacare. Several will first go into effect on January 1, 2011. They include:
The "Medicine Cabinet Tax"
Thanks to Obamacare, Americans will no longer be able to use health savings account (HSA), flexible spending account (FSA), or health reimbursement (HRA) pre-tax dollars to purchase non-prescription, over-the-counter medicines (except insulin).
The "Special Needs Kids Tax"
This provision of Obamacare imposes a cap on flexible spending accounts (FSAs) of $2500 (Currently, there is no federal government limit). There is one group of FSA owners for whom this new cap will be particularly cruel and onerous: parents of special needs children.
There are thousands of families with special needs children in the United States, and many of them use FSAs to pay for special needs education.
Tuition rates at one leading school that teaches special needs children in Washington , D.C. ( National Child Research Center ) can easily exceed $14,000 per year.
Under tax rules, FSA dollars can not be used to pay for this type of special needs education.
The HSA (Health Savings Account) Withdrawal Tax Hike.
This provision of Obamacare increases the additional tax on non-medical early withdrawals from an HSA from 10 to 20 percent, disadvantaging them relative to IRAsand other tax-advantaged accounts, which remain at 10 percent.
Third Wave:
The Alternative Minimum Tax (AMT) and Employer Tax Hikes
When Americans prepare to file their tax returns in January of 2011, they'll be in for a nasty surprise-the AMT won't be held harmless, and many tax relief provisions will have expired.
The major items include:
The AMT will ensnare over 28 million families, up from 4 million last year.
According to the left-leaning Tax Policy Center, Congress' failure to index the AMT will lead to an explosion of AMT taxpaying families-rising from 4 million last year to 28.5 million. These families will have to calculate their tax burdens twice, and pay taxes at the higher level. The AMT was created in 1969 to ensnare a handful of taxpayers.
Small business expensing will be slashed and 50% expensing will disappear.
Small businesses can normally expense (rather than slowly-deduct, or "depreciate") equipment purchases up to $250,000.
This will be cut all the way down to $25,000. Larger businesses can currently expense half of their purchases of equipment.
In January of 2011, all of it will have to be "depreciated."
Taxes will be raised on all types of businesses.
There are literally scores of tax hikes on business that will take place. The biggest is the loss of the "research and experimentation tax credit," but there are many, many others. Combining high marginal tax rates with the loss of this tax relief will cost jobs.
Tax Benefits for Education and Teaching Reduced.
The deduction for tuition and fees will not be available. Tax credits for education will be limited. Teachers will no longer be able to deduct classroom expenses.
Coverdell Education Savings Accounts will be cut. Employer-provided educational assistance is curtailed. The student loan interest deduction will be disallowed for hundreds of thousands of families.
Charitable Contributions from IRAs no longer allowed.
Under current law, a retired person with an IRA can contribute up to $100,000 per year directly to a charity from their IRA. This contribution also counts toward an annual "required minimum distribution." This ability will no longer be there.

And worse yet?
Now, your insurance will be INCOME on your W2's!
One of the surprises we'll find come next year, is what follows - - a little "surprise" that 99% of us had no idea was included in the "new and improved" healthcare legislation . . . those who backed this administration will be astonished!
Starting in 2011, (next year folks), your W-2 tax form sent by your employer will be increased to show the value of whatever health insurance you are given by the company. It does not matter if that's a private concern or governmental body of some sort.
If you're retired? So what... your gross will go up by the amount of insurance you get.
You will be required to pay taxes on a large sum of money that you have never seen. Take your tax form you just finished and see what $15,000 or $20,000 additional gross does to your tax debt. That's what you'll pay next year.
For many, it also puts you into a new higher bracket so it's even worse.
This is how the government is going to buy insurance for the15% that don't have insurance and it's only part of the tax increases.
