Note this is the last one Kodak made, but you still have until December to process Kodachrome.

Two rolls coming back from processing next week, and I still have 2 1/3 rolls left to shoot.

And film ain't dead either. :colbert:

Its the numerous stories you read about him bullying young inexperienced models into getting naked to get his shots, and his overall creepiness in a sexual predator kind of way that turns me off him. Like I said, if I didn't know of this I'd probably like his work a hell'ova lot more.

There has been a flurry of interest in some work a good friend/colleague has recently published about meta-materials, the interest being in its potential cloaking properties. For your general interest:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-11686303

Today we had a photographer from Reuters come down to take some shots. Really nice guy, he had with him a couple of well worn Canon 1D's with a 200-70mm, 70-28mm and 100mm macro. Interestingly enough he said that they were not allowed to do such things as taking out blemishes, scratches or any cloning, and if he did he'd lose his job. Only post processing that was allowed was what is achievable in a conventional darkroom.

What precautions do I have to take when flying with the following:

Polaroid Land 350 and several packs of FP100c
Pentax K1000 with Arista B&W and a Kodacrome 64
Canon 40D & several lenses

I've flown with the Canon before with no problems - they let me take it as a 'handbag' in addition to my carry-on. Can the rest of that stuff go through the X-ray scanner? Is it pushing it to try to take all of that in one bag and still take another carry-on? Does the fact that I'm flying internationally make any difference?

Basically I have no idea where to find rules & regulations for flying with photo gear. :(

I've flown from the UK to Australia and back again with almost that exact film equipment and not had a single problem, and the film was fine going through all those carry-on X-ray scanners too (3 times on the way there and again coming back)

This part is true for any university teaching, I've had very similar experiences with engineering students who think they can just cruise through a degree just like high school.

Anyone need a 6mm lens for their 35mm Nikon camera?

British Journal of Photography posted:

A rare fisheye Nikkor 6mm f/2.8 lens, which offers the "world's most extreme wide-angle" and is worth £100,000, has gone on sale at Gray's of Westminster in London

First introduced in 1970 at the Photokina trade show in Cologne, Germany, the Fisheye-Nikkor 6mm f/2.8 lens offers an angle of view of 220º making it, at the time, the "world's most extreme wide-angle lens to cover an image area of 24x36mm.
Lens production started in March 1972, and was only made available to special order, says Gray Levett, a co-founder of Gray's of Westminster. He and Tony Hurst spend "six month on the trail of this lens and finally located it overseas," he says. "We were fortunate in securing it and it is now on sale for £100,000."
The lens is in mint condition. It uses 12 glass elements in nine groups and weighs 5.2kg. It has a minimum focussing distance of 25cm and features a slip-on front lens cap and is delivered in a rugged metal case.

http://www.smh.com.au/entertainment/art-and-design/gallery-dumps-artist-over-photo-controversy-20120902-258m4.html

Basically a photographer (or whatever he calls himself) is in the poo poo with the gallery that represents him after it was found that he was getting photos from Getty, manipulating them and then not crediting the original photographer.

I don't see anything wrong with what he was doing, it's art, and not to far from what some guys on the dorkroom do (ThisQuietReverie - always like your stuff), but it's the not crediting sources is what is rubbing people the wrong way I think.
