That's the thing with Facebook. It's too easy to do that kind of stuff. At least if it's on Flickr or something like that, the person has to make a conscious effort to gank your photos. Facebook also makes it easy for a person to crop out the watermark when they make a photo a profile picture.

Facebook also strips off all the EXIF info from the photo so you can't embed stuff like copyright in the photo. That and it recompresses photos and makes them look like crap.

If you're going to post photos on there, post one or two photos with a link to your web site for the rest of the set.

While this may not completely solve all of the problems, you can attach your flickr account to your facebook account. I had to have them connected for a design teacher a while back and forgot about it until I started using flickr again. The uploads show up in your newsfeed just like the photos uploaded to facebook do. kind of trick really.

I suppose that you give up on the ability to tag people, but whatever.

As much as I like the idea, something about his content puts me off. I wonder what some of the negative responses were like. I think part of it is how he presents his list of previous clients. It turns an impressive list of companies into a statement that you would roll your eyes at if he said it in person.

I just have to say I don't believe I'm wasting my time compiling the largest possible image I can get from a set of photos because even if they will not work right now, they will certainly work some time in the future and I will have them for perpetuity.

Also I have no job.

You are wasting your time, where do you think those extra dpi are coming from?

Transmetropolitan reference?

More like one day in the future when I print off my photos at 2m x 1m for an exhibition, which is my dream, I want my photos to be viewable from 5cm to 5m. This is the source of my artistic boner, resolution.

The point is, 300dpi is fine for even up close, as long as they don't have a loupe with them. Aren't you upscaling to get the 1.4k dpi res?

I haven't seen the PS videos, but judging from their other content I watched, lynda.com is a great and very cheap place to learn software.

I don't know where I would be if it weren't for lynda.com. I suppose that I would have picked it up eventually, but even the classes that I have taken at school haven't been as comprehensive. There are some that will say that they cannot sit and watch a video tutorial. You don't, at least if you are smart you don't. You follow along. It is best if you have something specific in mind and search for that. When you search, it searches the closed captioning scripts BTW, not just titles and subheads.

PROTIP: Look for the 2x video speed option for more condensed learning.

The other thing that is neat about lynda.com is how many different subjects they cover. Even stuff like CSS, Javascript and interviews of creative people.

I'm back. Been drinking heavily for weeks. Hellacious beard. I hit a kangaroo so hard with my car it landed on the hood, blinked three times, closed it's eyes, and died. I can't hear out of my left ear because I ate a wheel of blue cheese. My fridge is full of Vodka and Guarana mixer cans. Also I quit my job, I'm leaving in February for THE WORLD. I'm going to hit Jakarta, through Indonesia/Singapore/Malaysia/Thailand, I'll see if I can get through Burma without getting pulled up and shot to death in a battered hiace van 30km from Hsipaw/India/Nepal/Tibet/China/Mongolia/Russia and then motherfuckin' down to Cape Town. I worked in this mine for a year without doing anything remotely fun and ended up with such a ridiculous amount of money, I gently rub my bank statements on my unemployed friend's cheap possessions.

Here's my D3s:

It got hit by a car. It's still painful. I couldn't find the broken poo poo thread so I threw it in here. I think I'll buy the D800 if it really is going to have 36mp. That'll be neat to gently caress around with.

I have to believe you are some sort of fictional character. At least I hope you are, that is really lovely of you. I can't deny that you're entertaining. In fact you are my fave poster.

What's wrong with overshooting? Memory cards are cheap. I never really thought about it, but paragon8 is right. Event photography is more about coverage than it is about perfection. I feel that overshooting everything and everyone at least twice or more times with get me a decent amount of keepers. It does make post and culling pretty tedious, I must admit.

On the other hand, what can he expect for free? I would be offended if someone asked for all of my shots from an event as well. You know, what about making a dummy flickr account? I have one for my family and friends photos that is separate from my main account.
