Don't get that lens. Get a 35mm f/1.8 (for DX) or f/2 for FX. Or get the older AI-S version of the 28mm f/2.8 if you want that focal length. It's 1,000 times better than the AF version, except that you have to focus manually. It's also cheap on KEH.

You manage to rouse yourself that night, and cook some dinner with your girlfriend, but you can't say much, can't even stand the sight of drink, and the next day you get up early and go home.

Apparently he spent something like $60 on cab fare going home. What made him just stand up and walk out is when I turned off the music and quizzed him loudly on which dictionary we were supposed to use and like, ended up yelling drunkenly about y being e in old english and how we should be using a transcribed word list from the thirteenth century god knows we don't evolve so our language never should either.

I feel bad now, though. I should have just plied him with spiked drinks and pissed on him when he passed out.

Photography is interesting in that even a horribly taken photo is still an accurate representation of perspective, color, value and volume, whereas a lovely charcoal drawing won't necessarily look like anything. It is super obvious if a painting student spent 20 minutes painting their project before class. It's not so obvious with a photo. That said, I am pretty sure a good photography professor can tell when a student has done the barest minimum.
