Wow, even amazon's jumped in the generic ink/toner game.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.ht...&pf_rd_i=507846

Includes toner for the venerable brother TN-350 and TN-360!

For my model it's only a $5 discount between the OEM and amazon version, but if they discount their own version more I'd totally jump on that.

Are you sure about that? This is what I'm seeing on the Brother site:

2040/2070 - TN350
2140/2170 - TN330 or TN360
2240/2270 - TN420 or TN450
5340/5370 - TN620 or TN650

Wow, it looks like the estimated page yield from each generation keeps going down.

TN350 - 2500 pgs
TN330 - 1500 pgs
TN420 - 1200 pgs

Jesus, a duplex wireless printer for under $100? We live in the loving future. And the HL-2240D is amazing, a duplex printer for $70? I think the 2270DW is probably a better deal, but still.

The toner cartridges changed yet again with this new model though, and not in the positive direction either.

edit: i guess the high-yield is actually still rated for 2600 pgs. The low-end one is now 1200 instead of 1500.

I, too, have the same problem now though. My 2040 has been a champ and doesn't look to be breaking down anytime soon, as much as I want duplex. If brother had apple airprint compatibility *and* duplex I might just break down and get it though.
