I know a GM who randomly rolled for NPCs' psionic abilities under 3.5 and had a system to determine their daily power points. Due to a bunch of very fluky rolls and some decent role-playing by the players, a certain NPC who was only meant to be scenery filler got something interesting. Long story short, party member goes off with bar wench, party Thri-Kreen (barely more than a savage) thinks the bar wench is being seduced away to be made use of as food, bar wench doesn't take kindly to this and unleashes Ultrablast.

On a completely unrelated note: Paragon paths are awesome, aren't they? They slot right in and let you work in new stuff into existing progressions. In fact, epic paragon paths are great since they can substantially remake your character in abilities and appearance. Back on topic: I like how in the DarkSun fluff high-level mages change form. It's really neat. I especially like the two different forms related to whether they're Defilers or Preservers.

I have it on good authority (from someone not under an NDA) that Warforged are not in Dark Sun, their niche is being filled by another race.
