Neither of them has really molested any of the cats (between us 4 siblings, there are 7 cats, 1 bunny). The older one pet a bit hard, but never really grabbed or tried to pick them up. The little one totally understands and squeels in delight just to gently run her fingers through a kitty coat. You just gotta trin the kids young. fur sure....train the kids to respect the critters. Kids can usually understand when very young.
