So for those wondering. Looks like Gossamer isn't going to wind up on Teargarden, as Billy considers it a Zeitgeist song, and probably won't see the light of day until he does a Zeitgiest re-issue when he gets the rights back to it (in 2014).

Goddamnit. After all the poo poo that went down with EMI/Virgin I still can't believe that he signed to another major label for the "new band". SP needs to get on a more independent label like Epitaph or Cooking Vinyl or somewhere that will just constantly release anything Corgan wants, which I will then purchase.

As if a megalomaniac like Mr. Corgan would sign with an Indie label.

For anyone looking for something that kinda sounds like Smashing Pumpkins. There's an Indie band called "The Pains of Being Pure at Heart" who's new album was made with help by Flood and Alan Moulder (not at the same time I believe though) who both did Producing and Mixing on the best Pumpkins albums. If you want a kinda Smashing Pumpkins lite, check out their song "Belong" here http://www.myspace.com/thepainsofbeingpureatheart

I feel like I'm alone in actually thinking Machina I/II were good albums. Not quite SD quality but pretty drat good. I also think that American Gothic was great and I even really like two songs off his solo album (The Cameraeye and Mina Loy). The rest of it is pretty bad though, and I didn't like Zeitgeist but I feel pretty confident when I say Zeitgeist was the only bad Pumpkins album. The new album is also pretty good so far. I love Freak, Tom Tom and Song for a Son with the rest ranging from okay to pretty alright (Except Astral Planes, because gently caress that noise). The quality of songs has only really improved and the only thing I really want is either to lay off the synths so much or use them to create more Adore style songs.

You're not, I love Machina I/II. II needs some tracks cut and better production.

If Machina II had production on par with Machina I and they were released as a double album like originally planned, it would be the Pumpkins best work in my opinion.

Combined with their best tracks Machina would be pretty good, not the best but pretty good. Thing is you'd end up taking many more tracks from II than I, most certainly. Machina I is almost complete poo poo, just utterly awful except for a couple tracks. II has a number of good tracks and some boring ones. I also actually like the lo-fi quality of II as well. Also to add to Bubble-T's recommendation, if you can seek out the Mashed Potatoes bootleg, it's pretty neat especially if you like Gish era stuff (you should). It's 70-something tracks of B-sides, outtakes, live versions, radio plays, covers, and a couple live tracks that were never put on an album (and a few of them are great). The only thing is, the low end is pretty drowning, so bumping the treble is kind of necessary to make it not sound like poo poo (at least to me).

From the Facebook page: Just found out the weirdest news: our bass player Nicole (@xocoleyf) just admitted she is one of the girls on the cover of Siamese Dream. She said she didn't want us to know because she thought maybe we wouldn't let her be in the band. Yeah, I'm not buying this at all.

If that is her then I accuse Corgan of knowing that it was her from the get-go and that being why she's now in the band. Now he can be all, "It was meant to be" about it.

Well I like to think that its true. That the girl grew up enamored with the band since she appeared on a fairly successful album cover. Was inspired to learn bass guitar, and when the chance arose to audition for the band, she went for it. Then I read this from wikipedia: quote:Shortly after the Pumpkins reformed in 2007, Corgan posted a message to the band's blog saying that they were "[l]ooking for girls from Siamese Dream album cover... As you all know, they were quite young when the photo was taken. They are not conjoined anymore, as far as we know." The band's intentions for the search were never made clear.[27] In February, 2011 Billy Corgan announced via Twitter that not only had one of the girls been found, she was none other than current bassist for the Pumpkins, Nicole Fiorentino. According to Corgan, "Just found out the weirdest news: our bass player Nicole just admitted she is one of the girls on the cover of Siamese Dream"[28] It also mentions that the album booklet was composed of family members and strangers So....
