![]() ![]() Special thanks to Sex Vicar for the metal title! A new game by Tim Shafer, the man behind such classics like Grim Fandango and Full Throttle. The game will feature the character of Eddie Riggs, voiced by Jack Black, a roadie who was transported to a fantasy world inspired by the artwork of heavy metal album covers. Eddie becomes the world's savior, leading the down-trodden humans against a range of supernatural overlords using a battle axe, his Flying V guitar infused with magical powers, and a customizable hot rod. In addition to Black, the game will feature voices of heavy metal musicians including Lemmy Kilmister, Rob Halford, Ozzy Osbourne and Lita Ford and other celebrities such as Tim Curry, as well as more than one hundred metal songs selected by Schafer for inclusion in the game.
You bet it does! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() http://www.gametrailers.com/game/br...rt=date#Content Available right now on Xbox Live (US and Canada), available everywhere on Xbox Live and on PSN on ROCKtober 1, 2009! ![]() Use the guitar's pyro attack. Is Rocktober 13th a worldwide release date or just for the US? When can I get my hands on this in Australia?
|
| # ? Sep 30, 2009 02:03 |
|
Its out ROCKtober 16th in Europe (not the band, the continent) and the 15th in Australia. Also, remember to download the demo on October the 1st or the Firebeast Ormagodden, cremator of the sky and destroyer of the ancient world, will give everyone Swine-Flu if the demo isnt downloaded 666-Million times. But there will be fun give-aways and a live stream from Double Fine. So get the demo then, and tissues. Also, posted it in the last thread but for those in Europe with Spotify. Heres a playlist with most of the soundtrack on it.

Played the demo for this yesterday and I haven't been this pumped for a new game in a long time. Definite day one purchase. Also, Tornado of Souls is in that song list gently caress YES.

If the demo does not sell you, then you must hate awesome things. Seriously, if you haven't played the demo, go download it. It's too short, but if the full game is half as awesome as the demo it's going to be fantastic. I was skeptical, but I should have known better than to doubt the awesome power of metal. And Tim Schafer.

I just want to say that I went the the promo concert during ComicCon that featured Three Inches of Blood and motherfucker GWAR! Free concert, free booze, free energy drinks, free playing of the demo. And I got into the mosh pit of Jack Black whom nobody recognized until Oderus Urungus (lead singer) pointed him out in the middle of the show.

My brother poured nearly four and half years into making this bad boy and I can't loving wait to play it. I've been following it through development since inception and it looks like the wait has been well worth it. The game has changed quite a bit, but I think they came away with pretty much the best version of it that they could have given the time, manpower, and all the poo poo that they went through swapping publishers so many times. So congratulations to Double Fine, Rocktober approaches and I'm ready!

I can't get the demo yet but is it multiplayer by any chance? From what I recall it was mostly 1 person smashing face but if I could throw in another player that would be even better.

Huh, after learning its by the guy behind Grim loving Fandango, I'm into this now. I mean, yeah, it looks good, but so does everything prior to release. Ugh, Jack Black.

Looking at that "World of Brutal Legend" featurette, I get the impression that a lot of the game will be about exploration. However, I listened to the Giant Bomb guys talk about the game during one of their podcasts and it seemed more like an RTS? What are they going for exactly?

The game looks like it's alot like Battlezone, minus the base building. You start off in a fighting game and as you get more minions the game eventually grows into an RTS with you at the head of a metal army.

It'll start out like the demo, a Metal Zelda, and slowly morph into an RTS/Adventure game similar to Overlord. The multiplayer itself will be ONLY the RTS-like part.

Playing the demo the moment it comes out to determine whether or not I'll preorder. For my pocket's sake I hope I don't like it that much, but the metal fan in me is saying FUCKINGPREORDERNOW! Still can't believe how many good artists are on the soundtrack, it's astounding. Can't wait to hear Crimson Glory while killing bad dudes.
