Does anyone have any spare demo codes for a poor scottish student fallen on hard times?

I tried to pre-order the game using me last tuppence as the deposit, but they turned me away and threw me out onto the cold Dundee streets. I fell hard on to the freezing cobbles and twisted my ankle. I called out to a Gentleman as he passed, beseaching him to help me up - but he just hit me with his silver topped cane and called me a filthy parasite. I eventually pulled myself up and tried to hobble the many miles back to my hovel, but I was set upon by a gang of beggar children and they stole the coat off of my back and the very shoes from my feet. I could do nothing but carry on through the bitter Scottish weather, pierced by the biting wind and soaked through by the driving rain.

I made it back to my humble shack, but I can feel the chill in my lungs spreading. I don't think I could even summon the strength to call for a Doctor. Not that it matters, Doctors don't come for people like me.

If only... if only I could play the L4D2 demo, before I slipped away. If only I could hear the voices of my dear goon friends just once more. Then at least I could die with one good memory, kept safe in my heart, and I would tell the angels that I knew happiness in my lifetime - if only for a moment.

Sounds like a typical night in Dundee to me. I don't see how it warrants special treatment

Is it just me, or do the melee weapons kinda ... suck? All I've seen in about five play throughs are the frying pan, guitar, and nightstick though, maybe I just need something pointer instead.

I've found that melee weapons work best through filtering. As in, if there is a doorway, or zombies have to turn the corner to get you, go ahead and melee away. You get a good chunk of them and any team mates behind you usually pick up the few that tumbled away and are getting back up or the even smaller few that actually got through to you.

I've also found melee weapons to be great when I am using the sniper rifles. I can just give the zombies around me a good smack before I go onto shooting anything else near me, then get back to sniping.

Oh man it's only the demo and I'm spergin' out jesus christ

The only ones I've noticed are around the cafe. Sometimes you can go through the door, sometimes you can't. Sometimes you can go through the alleyway past the cafe, sometimes you can't. Sometimes there's a fence at the end of the street past the cafe, sometimes there isn't.

As for melee weapons, I like them a lot. Puddin's right in that they work best when you have zombies coming at you through a choke point. Some of them handle differently, too (the machete is definitely a lot faster than the guitar, for instance). I can't imagine using melee weapons in versus, though. Hope I'm wrong!

Melee weapons any use against a tank?

Can play later if you're around, say 8ish? I'm still at work and I have to hit the comic store and a few other places before going home.

Like xp67 said, there's an Achievement for it, I was using the guitar against the Tank the other day, I'm not sure if it was doing damage, he had been bile-bombed so he was distracted, but he eventually punched me away. It might be most useful if he's busy mushing an incapped survivor (and is on fire).

Works for me . I did an expert run through earlier and took no damage right up until the crescendo when I startled a witch . Now I'm itching to complete the demo on expert.

So someone mentioned before that the jukebox plays music. I thought neato, thought I'd switch it on, and sure enough I had The Saints Come Marching In blaring away as I killed zombies. Neat touch, I thought.

Running through another campaign, thought I'd switch back on the jukebox for shits and giggles. But... Still Alive? What the hell? Oh I see, there's more than one song on here!

Now there's this song about letting people into the safe room, talking about when they run out of guns and food how they'll eat each other. Thought it was pretty funny...

Wonder what else I'll find on here.

Six pokeballs, more than enough to catch anything that moves.

So I am a bit behind on this game, but I am curious as to when the demo comes out for regular people. Last year gamestop's page for giving out the demo code was messed up so anyone who abused it got a code. This year I completely forgot about the game until last week. I really need to try this out before I decide to buy it, since I already own L4D.

Edit: In reading my own post I got confused, so to summarize: When does the demo come out for regular people without pre-order codes. Sorry for any confusion.

So is this the official L4D thread now? Well the old one is closed, so I'm assuming so. I figured out my xbox live problem, so DamienSeptucini is back in action. I'll be on tonight a lot.
