The trailer for this film was just released today: http://movies.yahoo.com/movie/1809998233/video/16425316 The design for the dragon looks very unique; much more salamander-ish than dragons typically are depicted as. The rendering is also really nice, especially for an early trailer. I don't know much about the story; I've heard it's based off a children's book. Hopefully it turns out as well as Kung Fu Panda; the art seems to be on par judging from the trailer.

While it looks like an improvement on Dreamworks's part, it looks rather predictable. I do really like the designs on the vikings though, which is sad because they'll probably take a backseat to the boy and his dragon. Its making me wish time and effort put into this film would have been put to better use making a Lost Vikings movie.

It looks like it won't be filled with terrible pop culture gags which is definitely a good start. DreamWorks Animation won me over with Kung Fu Panda, then lost me again with Monsters vs. Aliens. I have a feeling that back-and-forth will be our relationship for the foreseeable future: this will be fun, then Shrek 4 will be crap, then Oobermind will be good, then Kung Fu Panda 2 will be a soulless cash-in, then The Guardians of Childhood will......well, you get the idea.

Three posts, and nobody bothers to note that this is from Chris Sanders, of Lilo and Stitch fame? For shame.

It does look pretty predictable but then again Kung Fu Panda was predictable and it was fantastic. If this is basically Eragon: The Animated Movie only with a sense of humor instead of straightfacedly transplanting Star Wars in a fantasy setting it'll still be better than 90% of Dreamworks' own stuff.

The trailer was quite cute, maybe a little formulaic but I'm interested to see where it goes. The dragon starting to mimic the kid (sitting, smiling) was great though. I'm a sucker for "nerd earns respect from entire town" style stories anyways.

I hope the movie and the dvd pack-in movie and the Holiday Special and the sequels and the Nickelodeon cartoon are all great. But seriously, Chris Sanders tells a good story and I've liked all the actors in multiple roles. I just wish they had gone with a more Sanders-y design for the humans instead of MILDLY APPEALING CG MOVIE CHARACTER DESIGN 75-A.

So apparently Jay Baruchel is a fairly boring voice actor.

I gotta admit, the useless reptile line at the end of the trailer got a chuckle out of me. Is anyone else becoming thoroughly nauseated by that "will change two worlds" tripe that seems to be in every other trailer?

I'll see this (on dvd) just for Craig Ferguson and Gerard Butler.

Hahaha, I had no idea, but when I was watching the trailer I thought to myself, "Wow, that dragon reminds me of Stitch." I'll give it a watch based solely on that and the fact that I have to watch anything that comes out that has a dragon in it. I agree with whoever said Hiccup's voice was annoying, though.

Well it certainly is an interesting setting. How many kids movies have been set in a Viking village?

Besides the kids obnoxious voice, this movie definitely looks like it has potential. I absolutely love the dragon's design, it's so... different. I'll definitely be seeing this. Then again I will watch almost any animated movie that doesn't have a fart joke in the trailer.

Yeah, that Dragon is going to sell a whole lot of merchandise. It is very Cat like, and has the tail/fins of a shark, wings and Stitchs mouth. I hope there is a well done plushie of it, haha, to feed my consumerist desire. I also agree about the voice acting being very blase. Kind of a shame, that. Still, there is no way I will not see this for the Dragon alone. I dig on Dragons in general, but the design on that guy is really good. Story sounds pretty much run of the mill, but that isn't an issue for me, since it is aimed at kids and so moral lessons about acceptance and fighting the status quo are OK by me.

I really like this trailer a lot, but I can't place my finger on the exact reason. I really like the animation and the look of the characters, especially the dragon. I also like Jay Bruchel's voice for that character. Definitely seeing it

I'm not really a dragon fan or a CGI cartoon fan, but the tiny facial expressions and mimicry during the face scene sold it for me. I wish they'd stop pimping the 3D out. My town doesn't have an Imax, so we have to pay an extra 5 dollars a ticket for squiggly backgrounds.

(although you're right, of course) This movie looks pretty good - I'm definitely getting more of a Kung Fu Panda vibe than Aliens v. Monsters (finally saw that recently - not good, not good), which is a promising development.

Kind of like ,the dragons but the Vikings could look a bit meaner. It feels like there is a bit of overflow of computer animated movies right now and that takes a bit out of the experience for me. They all look kind of the same, all the way back to Shrek.

Jay Baruchel may make this movie unwatchable for me. I barely tolerate him in live-action roles (although I liked him in Tropic Thunder), and having just his voice is horrid.
