I see a lot of refrences calling baseball fans nerds. why are we nerds? baseball is a great game to watch. Is it because of the stat nerds?

The short answer is that because there are so many numbers and so many advanced metrics that utilize some crazy, unknown math that everyone who knows them or cites them has some degree of nerdiness attributed to them. I wear my badge with pride.

It's probably just because of the stat nerds. It can sound as abstract and silly as guys talking about D&D if you don't know what THAC0 is.

I literally vorped out at a kobe steakhouse because some rear end in a top hat said that Andruw Jones was the MVP over Albert Pujols because of RBIS. JESUS!!! HE HAD LIKE 100 MORE CHANCES AND HIT .200 WITH RISP!@!

I once sodomized a man with a pool cue because he had the temerity to say that Ichiro Suzuki was something more than a selfish hit compiler.

my favorite part about firejoemorgan was that people kept claiming they lived in their mother's basement, but no, they were all successful comedy writers and still were better at being sports writers than all sports writers everywhere

Well yes, non baseball fans tend to try to lump all baseball fans into the nerd category. But there's two things to consider here: 1)Nerddom is a subjective thing. 2)Those people don't like baseball, so gently caress them.

You ever had a guy be like "hey man, come over for some beers we'll watch a baseball game" if the answer is yes, and you personally answered yes, it is important that you A) take a very close look at the dude's complexion B) notice that you are both dressed like the kid from boy meets world. except maybe you are a few hundred pounds heavier. this should basically answer any and all questions.

A lot of hardcore baseball fans I know are into sabremetrics and are generally overly obsessed with stats when compared to other sports. Also, baseball fans who are 'amazed' by the toughness of ball players. Like hearing Joe Buck rant on about how tough Victorino was last night for getting his finger smashed. I mean, sure, that definitely hurt like a bitch, but come on. For perspective, I my favorite sports are hockey, football and soccer, but I enjoy post season baseball and I'm absolutely amazed by really good pitchers. I just can't stand baseball players sitting out with wimpy injuries when people like Joe Thorton on the SJ Sharks miss just two shifts after having three teeth knocked clean out and another three cut in half. http://www.mercurynews.com/ci_13691691?nclick_check=1 NHL clubs carry team dentists!
