The obvious big game is AC Milan vs Real Madrid on the first day. With Milan edging out Madrid 3-2 at the Bernabeu in the first leg, Madrid is going to have to put on a show to pick up the three points.

On the 4th, Liverpool is away to Lyon in virtually a must win scenario. Having lost to both Lyon and Fiorentina, they'll need the three points to hold on to the possibility of moving on to the knockout stages.

Also, with Barcelona having lost to Rubin Kazan at home at the Camp Nou, Rubin looks to take 6 points off the Spanish giants in successive upsets.

That picture is also of Leonardo realizing that he wont lose his job right after the game!

Ronaldo is out for Madrid, which is a huge boost for Milan. I hope the team doesn't become overly confident, and I wont put a draw or (hopefully) a win out of the question. Of note is that Milan is on a much better run of form that Real Madrid is currently, so hopefully that momentum will keep going for us. The one question mark in the line up is probably Inzaghi vs. Boriello. Boriello scored two this past weekend against Parma, but it's hard to ignore that Inzaghi simply does better in the CL than any of our other strikers, especially in tough games. Either way, when one comes out, the other will come in.

Fully expect Liverpool to lose here, then utterly tonk both Fiorentina and Debrechen to qualify.

United team news: Vidic, Ferdinand, Park, Giggs all out. Rooney may well sit this one out to look after Kai. Berbatov's got a bit of a knee issue, so it might be a 4-3-3 with Owen in the middle, which is about as exciting as it was seeing Alan Smith in midfield.

Papers reckon we'll play some variation on

code:

                VDS

Neville Brown Evans Evra

Fletcher(?) O'Shea Carrick Obertan

              Berbatowen

.

Realistically, I'd be ok with a point, and I doubt we're going to really exert ourselves with Chelsea on Sunday. TBH I'd rather we had Fabio in place of Evra, since Paddy could do with a rest.

Women are bitches since they won't fuck me.

If Berbatov is indeed not available:

code:
                Owen
Macheda Nani
                Scholes
       Carrick O'Shea

Evra Brown Evans Neville
Obertan isn't ready to start in this kind of match, and Fergie likes playing 3 in central midfield in CL.

Hmmm. I'd actually like to see Obertan instead of Macheda there, just to see him get a proper run out. That team loses quality quite rapidly as you move forward though. Banking on a 0-0, or hilariously actually seeing Fletcher-Scholes in the centre and Berbatooney up front.

Also, BBC reporting that Johnson and Aurelio are both out for Wednesday.

Most likely Milan will line up like this.

code:

Ronaldinho Boriello Pato

                 Seedorf
    Pirlo Ambrosini

Zambrotta Thiago Silva Nesta Oddo
Not bad; though it's times like this where I wish we had a real left back sub and weren't forced to play Zambrotta on the left all the time.

In theory Chelsea will win 4-0 or 5-0.

I reckon 3-1 or 2-0 though. Saying that, Drogba is making his CL return tonight.

Yeah GravityDaemon - I kept hearing it would be Inzaghi to start but most sources now say Marco will start. Inzaghi will probably come on in the second half at some point.

While part of me thinks it will be a close game there's another part that hopes we gently caress up Madrid. I'm really hoping Higuaín doesn't start though.

I read murmurings that he wouldn't start despite scoring both goals in Real Madrid's last win. Even if he does start, I think our defense will give him a problem. Dida is also making up for that howler during the last CL game. He made a few amazing saves against Chievo and Parma that would be the envy of keepers ten years younger than him.

I knew he was doubtful but Aguero on the bench just sucks.

Referee, assistants, 4th. Liverpool can't complain with De Bleeckere and Arsenal should be okay with Hamer, but a couple of more interesting choices for United and Chelsea. From what I'm told, Benquerenca is by turns bloody brilliant and bloody awful, and there's no way of predicting which one's going to turn up. Kuipers I've heard nothing about because he's new on the Elite list and this is probably being seen as a chance for him to get some experience at one of Europe's top grounds.

Oh, and well done to Martin Atkinson, who UEFA seem ridiculously high on right now. Admittedly, Howard Webb's off at the U17 World Cup, but even taking that into account, Atkinson's had a lot of matches for his first season on the Elite list, and they've not necessarily been the dregs either.

Persuading a player to switch teams is tapping up. I'm not saying those exact words are tapping up, but Igor's situation with United has been around for a long time now so it's not just Fergie admiring him like you imply.
