---CANADIENS (7-8-0) at BRUINS (6-7-1)--- Preview Injury Report-- Savard (broken left foot) and Lucic (index finger) are both still recuperating from their injuries and are expected to miss 4-6 weeks. Byron Bitz is day-to-day with a groin injury. Gill will be out for several weeks with a hairline fracture of his foot, joining fellow defenseman Andrei Markov (severed ankle tendons), and Ryan O'Byrne (knee). Matt D'Agostini is out for a least a week with a concussion and Georges Laraque is day-to-day with back issues. Season series -- This is the first of six meetings between the divisional rivals. Boston won five of six regular-season games before sweeping the Habs in a first-round playoff matchup. Michael Ryder scored twice in Boston's 4-1 victory in Game 4 on April 22 at the Bell Centre. ---BLUE JACKETS (7-5-2) at THRASHERS (6-4-1)--- Preview Injury Report -- A second surgery on Lehtonen's cranky back has pushed back any potential return to late December. Atlanta defenseman Ron Hainsey (lower body) is expected to be available to play against his former team. Blue Jackets defenseman Jan Hejda, who missed eight games with a knee injury, came off IR and played Wednesday. His return should help tighten a leaky defense. Season series -- One meeting last season, one this season. Steve Mason got his first NHL shutout last time these two teams met on Nov. 22, 2008, winning 2-0. It was only his sixth start in the League en route to a Calder Trophy-winning season. Columbus has won three of the last four meetings, including the last two by identical 2-0 scores. The teams have met 10 times in all, with each winning five times. ---LIGHTNING (5-4-4) at SENATORS (6-4-2)--- Preview Injury Report -- Spezza is questionable because of his back injury. Defenseman Anton Volchenkov is expected back in about a week after an elbow problem heals. Right wing/center Jesse Winchester hurt his knee during training camp, went to Binghamton for conditioning and may return tonight. Fisher skipped practice Wednesday but will likely play. Lightning defenseman Paul Ranger missed the final 29 games last season, during which he had shoulder surgery. Ranger had a goal and an assist in eight games this season and was minus-2 when he left practice last week and requested a leave of absence, which was granted. Otherwise, the Lightning are healthy. Season series -- The teams have split their two meetings, with the home team winning both times -- easily. The Senators beat the Lightning 7-1 at Scotiabank Place on Oct. 15, and Tampa Bay beat Ottawa 5-2 at the St. Pete Times Forum two weeks later. The Lightning will host the Senators on April 8 in the final meeting this season. Ottawa won three of four games in 2008-09, including one in overtime. ---SHARKS (11-4-1) at RED WINGS (6-4-3)--- Preview Injury Report -- For the Sharks, centers Joe Pavelski (lower-body) and Torrey Mitchell (leg) are on injured reserve, and right wing Devin Setoguchi (lower-body) and forward Ryan Vesce (lower-body) are day-to-day. Defenseman Rob Blake left Wednesday's game in the second period and did not return. For the Red Wings, defenseman Andreas Lilja (concussion) and forwards Valtteri Filppula (wrist) and Johan Franzen (knee) are on injured reserve, and winger Brad May (eye) and defensemen Rafalski (flu) and Ericsson (flu) are day-to-day. Season series -- This is the first of four meetings this season. In 2008-09, each team won both games on its home ice. Ryan Clowe and Milan Michalek led the Sharks with a goal and 4 assists each. Marian Hossa (4-3) and Pavel Datsyuk (2-5) paced the Red Wings with 7 points apiece. Detroit outscored San Jose 17-11 in the series despite being outshot 133-122. ---CANUCKS (9-7-0) at WILD (5-9-0)--- Preview Injury Report -- The Canucks are ravaged by injuries. Luongo (broken rib) and Jannik Hansen (hand) are on the trip and close to returning, but Daniel Sedin (shoulder), Ryan Johnson (upper body), Alexander Bolduc (upper body), Michael Grabner (foot) and Pavol Demitra (shoulder) are also out. The Wild will be without defenseman Kim Johnsson (upper body) and forward Pierre-Marc Bouchard (concussion). Brunette is also banged up but he should play. Season series -- This is the second of six meetings between the Northwest Division rivals. Vancouver took the first encounter 2-1 at GM Place on Oct. 17. Ryan Kesler and Mikael Samuelsson scored for Vancouver after Mikko Koivu gave the Wild a 1-0 lead in the first period. Roberto Luongo needed to make only 17 saves for the win. Nicklas Backstrom made 37 saves in a losing effort. ---FLAMES (8-4-1) at BLUES (5-6-1)--- Preview Injury Report -- Kiprusoff sat out against Dallas due to an illness. … Blues defenseman Barrett Jackman, out since Oct. 8 with an ankle injury, is skating but doubtful. Defenseman Carlo Colaiacovo (flu) and forward T.J. Oshie (appendectomy) should return. Center Andy McDonald, who crashed headfirst into the boards last Saturday, is skating and could be a game-time decision. Season series -- It's the first meeting of the season between the Western Conference rivals. The Flames won the first three games between the teams last season before the Blues took the last one in Calgary on March 20. The Flames have won seven of the last eight against the Blues. ---BLACKHAWKS (8-4-1) at COYOTES (9-6-0)--- Preview Injury Report -- Despite skating for the first time in two weeks, Toews is still questionable for Thursday with concussion-like symptoms. Ben Eager (concussion) returned to practice Monday, but is still not expected to play. Kurt Sauer is still on injured reserve for Phoenix with headaches, while Scottie Upshall is questionable with a lower body injury after missing Wednesday's game in Colorado. Season series -- This will be the first meeting of the season between Chicago and Phoenix. The Hawks dominated the season series in 2008-09, sweeping all four games by a combined 19-4 margin. ---RANGERS (9-6-1) at OILERS (7-7-1)--- Preview Injury Report -- Rangers forwards Enver Lisin (foot) and Donald Brashear (undisclosed injury) both missed Tuesday's game and are uncertain for Thursday. For the Oilers, Sheldon Souray (concussion), Marc Pouliot (sports hernia) and Ryan Stone (knee) remain out with their long-term injuries, while center Shawn Horcoff will sit with a shoulder injury and is listed as day to day. Ladislav Smid did not skate in Wednesday's practice due to a sore throat. The young defenseman was diagnosed with H1N1 virus last week, but hasn't missed any game action. Center Mike Comrie is expected back after a bout with the flu. Season series -- This is the only meeting between the clubs this season. Edmonton won 3-2 at Madison Square Garden on Nov. 10, 2008, in the only meeting last season. Ales Hemsky won it for Edmonton by scoring the only goal in the shootout. This is only the second visit by the Rangers to Rexall Place since January 2002; they are 13-12-3-1 all-time in Edmonton. ---PREDATORS (6-6-1) at DUCKS (4-7-2)--- Preview Injury Report -- Ducks goalie Jean-Sebastien Giguere (groin) has been practicing with the club this week but remains day-to-day. Nashville right wing Martin Erat (lower body) has missed two consecutive games and is day-to-day while Weber (foot) will be sidelined 1-2 weeks. Season series -- This is the first of four meetings this season between the clubs. The Predators finished 2-0-2 against the Ducks in 2008-09, outscoring (12-11) and outshooting (125-115) their Western Conference foe in the four meetings. ---PENGUINS (12-3-0) at KINGS (9-4-2) --- Preview Injury Report -- Besides Gonchar and Malkin, Maxime Talbot is also still recovering from offseason surgery on his shoulder. Kings left wing Richard Clune (groin) and defenseman Alec Martinez (lower-body) will not play. Season series -- This will be the one and only meeting between the teams during the regular season. The Penguins have taken all three meetings from the Kings since 2005-06. I posted when the announcers were all "the net came up!" to which I was pissy about, because it wasn't. Then they said it was because of goalie interference... Either way
|
| # ? Nov 06, 2009 00:14 |

Boston announcers never said anything about the net being up. And from the rule book "Goals should be disallowed only if: (1) an attacking player, either by his positioning or by contact, impairs the goalkeeper's ability to move freely within his crease or defend his goal" which the Montreal player did so
