I was sleeping and when I woke up my cat was in the process of cleaning my hair with her tongue. Besides being kind of nasty, are there are dangers to me or my cat?

Well, your hair could break off from it. Cats are pretty aggressive groomers.

There's a very strong chance you could die.

Wait until she swallows it and you wake up and look around and it comes out of her throat all slimy and warm. Yep.

Uh, really? You're fine. Your cat is grooming you. Mine likes to brush my hair with his paw, or touch the top of it (my hair is spiky).

It can hurt, sometimes. If they use their teeth.

Er, as a seriouspost, isn't there a risk that long hair can cause bowel impactions in cats if they get too big of a hairball? Might want to watch out for that v

Seriously, only problem is cat saliva stink on your hair and tummy problems if you have long enough hair to cause blockages or knots etc.

I had a similar problem with my cat every morning I wake up with him on top of me giving me CPR with his front 2 paws and he's making this really loud grunting noise that doesn't stop. Is there any way I can stop this behavior?

Is he moving his crotch while he does the chest compressions? If so, I dont think they are chest compressions.

Might want to watch out for that v My first thought was turds on a string coming out, which was both hilarious and pretty gross. Anyways, I don't think there's any problem with the cat licking your hair, it's bizarre but nothing too strange for cat behavior. Hell, my parents have a wiener dog that's obsessed with trying to lick my bald head (I shave it down and she's had this obsession since they got her 9 years ago, no clue).

He's kneading you, it's a comfort thing for him. He might or might not grow out of it. It supposedly happens more when the cat is taken away from his mother too early. Mine is seven and shows no signs of stopping.

My cat wakes me up some mornings licking my hair and will go for the hair other times my head is in range. My parents have a maltese dog that licks as well, so the gross factor is fairly negligible, but cat tongues aren't pleasant and I fear she may encourage male pattern baldness.

My cat nuzzles my face with his head then starts licking and biting my beard. It always makes me laugh. Better than licking my skin, too, I hate the wet grating feeling of cat tongue on my arms and legs. My other cat never licks me but she spends more time kneading me than actually laying on my lap. nintendo prower fucked around with this message at Nov 15, 2009 around 14:21 |

My cat comes over and rubs on me and then when I pet her she walks away. Is my cat just a complete cocktease or should I bring her to the vet?
