Ladies and Gentlemen, and those in between, I present Foghorn's 5th box thread this year. For your viewing pleasure, a USA built receiver and barrel WASR-10 GP.![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() At $430 with 100 rounds of ammo it was a steal. Well, I did have to give away the m44, but there will be others down the road.

But essentially: - No high-cap mags unless they were in the state before 1994 - No rifles that are anything like an AK-47, M16, or anything else fun or made within the last 60 years - Only one fun thing (pistol grip, bayo lug, muzzle device, folding stock, etc) It's nice to move to another state. Like PA.

foghorn posted:http://www.nysrpa.org/nygunlaws.htm is the best resource. But essentially: I was born and raised in NY but I live in Virginia now so I feel their pain. You can't have a mag that's more than 10 rounds, you can't have a flash suppressor or a threaded barrel. The muzzle break must be welded. The stock can't be telescoping and must be fixed or pinned. You CAN have mags bigger than 10 rounds if they're preban. Almost as bad as California laws but you can get by without gimping your weapon too much. Luckily I live in VA and I can do whatever the hell I want. I love NY, especially Buffalo, but I don't love their legislature. Make NYC their own state/district and leave the rest of the state alone.

If i lived up there (i did for a time) I would have a huge collection of old bolt-actions and pistols and nothign else. I can't bare restrictions like that. Same reason i only bought 2 AKs during the ban and 1 AR15. My semi-auto military 'assault' rifle collection didn't begin until late 2004. Still, enjoy your AK...my first was an SAR-1 which too did not have any evil features except a pre-94 magazine & pistol grip. Bayonet lugs are neat but pretty useless but i do like threaded barrels so you can install various muzzle devices to help with recoil or whatever. Folding stocks too look neat, but most poeple on ehre bitch about them not having chinweld and being too short or uncomfortable anyway on AKs...so you aren't really miss out too very much on this particular gun.

I don't think the mags had to be in NY before 94, they just need to be manufactured before 94. Copes Distributing ships pre-ban mags to NY if I remember correctly.

Give us back our tax money you horrible debtors. edit: ending the derail, but New York City and the surrounding counties send way, way more money upstate than we get back in taxes. If NYC split off from NYS, the rest of the state probably couldn't afford a stop sign if every other "major" city in the state held a bake sale, and I would get to ride to work on a solid gold subway car.
