Warm and really fuzzy this time.

My buddy Chris C. co-produces a new "show" that follows young chefs out drinking, then subsequently back to their restaurants at closing time to slop together gourmet drunk food.

Episode one has David Chang of Momofuku fame hitting Koreatown for some grease then dropping more F-bombs than Andrew Dice Clay on acid.

My buddy Jeff D. makes homemade porno. There are typically drunks involved. And lots of swearing.

The only thing I hate about that show is when the camera guy pans too far to the right or left and you see some dude that's dressed in a polo and a windbreaker, sitting in a plastic lawn chair reading some book.

It ain't exactly Spice Network, but I dig it.

My goodness my Guinness

That lovable scamp, David Chang and his lazy left eye. I'm surprised Jose Andres didn't punch him after the Spanish ham comment.

I'd actually love to hang out with him and his crew for a night - I might start hanging out at Mad for Chicken / Bon Chon chicken more to get a shot at that.

Having been to Momofuku I can honestly say, yes you do. He cranks out some good, if entirely forgettable, food and then for reasons which totally defy understanding, everyone follows him around like he is the second coming.

There are at least 3 places in NY that make better pork buns, that I know of, and I don't even live there.

I want his midas touch.

dave chang's best asset is his ability to hire incredibly talented people and put them in a position where they can make awesome poo poo. the chef de cuisines at his restaurants are universally killer chefs to work under.

edit: 'entirely forgettable' you can go suck a dick buddy

I wouldn't say his food is entirely unforgettable... the bo ssam meal was one of my favorite meals i've had in the past year, and I enjoyed Ko more than I enjoyed Le Bernardin.

Obviously I cannot speak to what it is like to work there, but you are right, "entirely forgettable" is overly harsh.

I guess with all of the press I was expecting too much. Seriously the guy is getting 30 minute interviews on NPR, coverage in every major food magazine, is being interviewed by every show. Honestly, I think Jose Andres is a better chef, but I cannot recall anyone licking his taint they way the crowds are for Chang.

Don't get me wrong, the food really was good, but the two other restaurants I hit on my last visit, Scarpetta and Graffiti were more enjoyable, and were not drowning in haute-food-geek pretentiousness.

(Note: I totally recognize the irony of calling Chang [the anti-cuisine] chef haute, but.. well.. that what the followers have made it]
