I'm interested in what everyone's priority list is when it comes to installing software after a brand new install.

For me, it's video drivers, Firefox, Eclipse, Apache/MySQL/PHP, Python, and Digsby.

Usually it's Google Chrome, drivers, nostromo n52 software, and Steam in that order.

Steam usually covers the rest

Damn, this is good coffee.

First thing is updates.

Then I get Firefox, Thunderbird, Pidgin, Winamp, and Office.

That's about it, really. Other programs just come as they do.

Holy smokes that's awesome. Does anyone know if it works? I've been telling my friends to use Google pack for a while now because it comes with a bunch of things they generally use anyway, but this is 10x better.

Nothing, I just run a few built in updaters to some programs that need it, but it was restored to a saved basic image of all drivers/used programs/games that I made the first time I installed 7 for the first time. The perfect clean state system all setup. Takes no time to go back to said clean state.

I used to do that until I realized that builds that I create typically last at a minimum a year, so when I restore from the backup I want to go in and update drivers anyways, or it's a new system so it's invalid. That and I don't tend to tweak for hours like I used to so its kind of pointless to me.

I found out about that Ninite site a couple weeks ago. So loving awesome. I almost want to reformat just to try it. Almost.

Anyway, these are the 'must haves' that I install first:
Updates
Firefox (along with a healthy assortment of Add-Ons)
Antivirus (Microsoft Security Essentials, lately)
Drivers
Dropbox
Pidgin

After that, I install these in no particular order:
Zune
7-Zip
Media Player Classic - Homecinema
ffdshow
Haali Media Splitter
SABnzbd+
Filezilla
Microsoft Office
TrueCrypt
TeraCopy
Recuva
ConvertXtoDVD
Photoshop
Dev-C++
