I've been playing online shooters for a while now and I'm getting tired of just playing random servers with random people. Is there anything like L4D but on QW:ET or BF2? They're great to play but its just a big old clusterfuck with nobody working together to achieve objectives. I like L4D because teamwork is so highly emphasized instead of going out for individual glory. I'm thinking about joining a clan but I just want something more serious and don't really know any good ones to try and join. Are there any clans or servers for QW:ET or BF2 that I should look at?

You can join my clan First Brigade Generals of Combat or [1BGoF] WE have a pretty good rep in the community for being pros. We have a bit of an extensive tryout period but I think you;d do fine and I'll put in a good word with our leader VashTheKillah1988. DOn't let the name fool you he is a pretty cool guy and ver well known in the community once you pass the training exercises. He kind of Roleplays a drill sargeant for your first month but after that its all good. It builds a good gaming community. Let me know if you are interested and I will forward you a copy of our application, it's only 3 or 4 pages I forget. Also dont be a noob or they won't even consider you.

Expendable Henchman posted:Tryouts and training exercises? That sounds cool. What are they like? We used to do that all the time back in the MechWarrior days; honestly I've not found another game to really have incredibly tight PvP coordination for Clan based play since then, in particular since the Battlefield series has waned in popularity over the years. And yes I realize (you should also know this) that the guy replying was a joke poster, making fun of all the stupid stuff a lot of Clans required and needless RP aspects. Though, I admit, we did run movement and formation drills in MW4, there was a very practical reason for it, largely because in a league game people smashing into each other could cost you the entire match and the league for that game was persistent in terms of gear and territory taken, rather than just a number on a leader board. Honestly your best bet will either be Modern Warfare 2 for clan play (as there are some actual tactics that can be brought up in team games), Team Fortress 2 for Clan play (I don't play it personally that much but it's a very team-centric game) or possibly if you enjoy serious simulation kind of games, Armed Assault 2 since that game features some really wide-scale open world co-op missions and team on team stuff. I suppose you could also check out MMOs if you mostly want to play co-op, but I generally avoid them like the plague. At least since Planetside, which if you asked this question some years ago, I'd highly recommended to you for this very purpose. Alabaster White posted:Oh god. OP, stay away from this guy. Seriously. Hell, stay away from I entirely disagree. There are games where Clans exist that are actually very entertaining and supportive of the game; you might not find that in the average FPS but, for example in my mentioned games, being in a clan on a game like Planetside or MechWarrior was a very social experience and required for you to get the most out of the game; playing with a disorganized team was not even a fraction as useful or fun. This is in sharp contrast to clans for games with little to no team tactics, in which case you're right. Blazing Ownager fucked around with this message at Nov 08, 2009 around 06:48 |

Find a server where you see someone with a clan tag with reasonably the same skill as you. Ask what ladder/tournament they play on. Find that ladder, look through all the clans, most will have a website of some sort. Go on there, apply to one of them and tell them you want to try out in a scrim (skirmish match, clan vs clan). Please don't ask whoever for a trial in public chat unless you can't find a website. Most recruiters for clans will typically sigh at this behaviour because it's annoying as gently caress. Good luck, have fun.
